Chapter 23: Farm catastrophe
. The next morning I was eating breakfast with my dad and the maids when the royal assistant walked into the dinning room. He's the person that keeps my dad informed about everything that Is happening on the island. He reported that a lot of the farms are having problems with animals dying. I listen to them and cut in after I've heard enough. I shout " ... I WANT TO INVESTIGATE".
My dad asked me to repeat and I calmed myself and said " dad may I please... investigate the problem... with the plant and animal specialist". My dad looked a bit surprised and so did his assistant. My father cleared his throat, please tell the investigators that my daughter will be helping them with this problem. I got a bit excited to be able to do something important again instead of sitting around. I skipped up to my room like a child and got dressed in something normal but not to big more tight to the skin and went to the assistant and left with him.
I went to the local farm closest to the castle and met up with the plant and animal specialist and greeted them but quickly got down to business. They told me the basics of the problem and what they new so far. This all started a couple weeks ago, they were having there monthly island wide farm inspections. The animals tested red on the health meter and it was a bunch of them.
There was green witch was very healthy, this means the farmers where working extra hard on keeping them healthy. There was yellow, yellow was just good and healthy no more no less. Orange was they had something bad in there food or had a simple sickness not to bad. Red means this is not good its not just one farm its contagious or is happening frequently and its a problem tht needs attention by more than farmers. Purple was things are starting to die and are in lots of pain, more serious then red. Code black means just DEAD plain and simple.
The king was involved when we got more then 10 cases of code black with not just farm animals but people. The connection is something there consuming because of traces of meat and plants in the humans and just plants in the farm animals. I thought about it for a while and came up with the idea that we just got a new fertilizer that made the plants grow very well but was very chemical based. " Hey guys the plants are not affected right". The plant specialists said" right". I smiled " maybe its the new fertilizer your using, if the animals are eating your products and were eating them two then maybe that's the problem".
They thought for a second and agreed to check it out. I went with the plant specialists to one of the coastal farms and we checked the fertilizer chemical makeup and the animals digestive dump, It was very smelly and gross. the animals that were still not in the red level did not have traces of the fertilizer chemical compounds in there dump but the ones dead did. We had to go around and check the other farms to have consistent evidence witch meant more poop sadly. I was still glad to help my people and the farms.
They ended up switching to a more organic fertilizer and the doctors eventually came up with a cure for all the people that were dying but not dead, the infected. I ended up staying up a few nights with this farm problem. It took about a week to solve for sure.
