Battle Arts Class
"Language, please" Adam warns looking at Zeno before continuing. "I know that many of you might be confused as to why an 8 year old is selected to teach Battle Arts to the lot of you. Keep your doubts for later. Right now, assemble in the ground. We will continue there."
Paul was a bit amazed by Zeno's courage to utter a curse word in front of the teacher. According to him, Zeno has to be either some sort of rich guy or has balls of steel something.
"Big bro, don't you know him? He is a pretty famous guy among the hotshots here. There is nobody in the village who could challenge him and win. Some say he even has a rich girlfriend." Paul whispers to Zeno on the way to the ground.
"What??!!"
Zeno asks Paul while grabbing his shoulder. He couldn't handle the fact that an 8 year old guy, especially his brother was dating before him. Unacceptable!!
"What more do you know?"
Zeno was more amazed by the fact that young Paul here knows more about Adam than even his predecessor. It seems this brat possesses some sort of talent in info gathering. Or maybe just a gossiper, who knows?
"I don't know much about the girl other than the fact she is someone from secondary class. Truth be told, there are ladies from higher classes, even from senior classes trying to trap him."
Paul was so happy to gain himself a listener that he gave away everything he knew.
"Eh? Why is that?" Zeno asks back being amazed.
"Why not? He is handsome. He has a higher level than the students and has a chance of breaking through the Novice tier and may even become a Grand Meister by old age. Moreover he is even someone from a noble bloodline."
"Noble bloodline? Where did you even hear such a thing?"
By the time Zeno asked that, they had already reached the ground.
Adam, who was leading them asks them to stand in a circle everyone can see each other. Zeno along with Paul and others stands in a circle. Adam goes into the circle and stands in the centre of it.
"Before we go on to a little exercise, I want you all to answer some of my questions. Not hard ones, just some basic knowledge everyone is supposed to know. Do you understand?" Adam asks looking at all of them.
"Yes, sir!"
The kids respond quickly and loudly as if they are under military training.
"Good, you guys are much more likeable than your seniors.
Now for the first question, does anyone here know about the tiers in the profession of Advancing?"
He asks turning towards each one of them.
Everyone except Zeno raises their hand resulting in everyone looking towards him.
'I know nothing. Is it that weird? These kids are too prepared for their age.'
Zeno thinks to himself in his mind.
[Since every place near to a dungeon is under the threat of an attack, all its residents wish to become a high level Advancer. Therefore, it isn't that weird for them to be prepared.]
Profile replies like an obedient servant to clarify its user's query.
Adam ignores Zeno and picks Paul next to the latter to answer.
"I know that the first tier is the Novice tier, then comes the Professional tier, after that the Meister and then the Grand Meister tier. I know only this much, Sir."
Paul answers according to what he knew to which Adam nods.
"Does anyone have anything more to add?" Adam asks, to which everyone stays silent.
'Heh, stupid kids. Not so smug right now, huh?' Zeno remarks to himself.
Seeing that no one else knew the answer, Adam decides to provide the answer himself.
"No problem. Listen closely, I won't say it twice.
All Advancers are classified into different tiers based on their Cosmic Grading they are in, or level if that is more preferable to you guys.
Lv. 1-9>>Novice
Lv. 10-19>>Professional
Lv. 20-29>>Meister
Lv. 30-39>>Grand Meister
Lv. 40-49>>Skill Elder
Lv. 50-59>>Skill Noble
Lv. 60-69>>Skill Ruler
Lv. 70-79>>Skill Emperor
Lv. 80-89>>Skill Sovereign
Lv. 90-99>>Incarnate
You all are in the Novice tier while I can be said to be in the border of Novice and Professional tier. All your other teachers are in the Professional tier while Mr. Klaus and Mr. Adrius are in the Meister tier. If you want to see people belonging to higher tiers, you would have to go to high level towns or cities." Adam explains patiently without losing his breath.
"Now all of you, select a partner to fight with. Girls with girls and boys with boys. You all can use Gifts of yours freely.
Anybody who is found just playing around will have to attend extra class with Mr. Klaus, though. So feel free to do so."
Adam instructs them and waits for a few minutes when finally the partners are finalised. Nobody wanted to pair up with Zeno since they were afraid of him because he looked bigger than them and moreover was older than them. So Paul ended up as his partner and Zeno being Zeno didn't care.
The first battle was between a black haired skinny kid named Sunny and another black haired but fatty kid named Wayne. Zeno attentively observes the battle since this will be the first battle he is seeing after his transmigration.
A white glow appears from both Sunny's and Wayne's left hand revealing a tattoo on the outer part of their hand. A holographic 3D projection of the tattoo emerges from the open palm of their hand revealing a coin and paper sheet for both Sunny and Wayne respectively. It seems Sunny's Gift is a Coin while Wayne's is a paper sheet. Both of the projections float in air for some time before a real copy of the object appears in their hand.
For the first two minutes, both of them just stared at each other like they were waiting for the other to attack.
"Chu.. chu Chi.. Cho..Njanjanan..."
Out of nowhere Wayne starts to taunt Sunny making weird expressions with his mouth.
'What's wrong with this guy?'
Sunny at first tries to make a neutral expression for some time even though he waa getting angry. However he couldn't held it much longer.
'Screw this guy!! I am gonna show him!!'
Sunny's patience just ran out and he starts to create multiple constructs of a coin and throws at Wayne.
'Fool! You have fallen for the tricks of the great paper hero, Lord Wayne.'
Thinking so, Wayne guides the constructed paper sheet in the path of the coins. He didn't make the paper sheet to block them. He just controlled the paper to bend in such a way that the coin got deflected by a small amount hitting it.
This continued for about 3 more minutes before Sunny started to pant while Wayne struggled to maintain his control. Seeing both of them were getting tired, Adam calls off the match.
"The match is over. Sunny, you got a score of 5 out of 10. And Wayne, you get a 6. Both of you take this and reflect on it.
Next batch, start the battle."
He gave his review to them in a paper which he was writing during the battle and at the same time announced the start of the coming batch.
These type of matches went on for about 2 hours. Pencil vs Ring, Belt vs Wood plank, Plastic cover vs Copper balls so on and on. These sort of weird match up came up again and again resulting in weird fights. Fights between some girls were almost non existent and some of them fought like they were born to kill another.
Adam gave each one of them boys and girls, utmost 6 and a half and some even got straight 0. It was about time for the Academy class time to end when the last battle was announced.
Zeno vs Paul
Truth be told, Paul wasn't that nervous and was itching to fight a worthy opponent. In case of Zeno, he didn't even care who his opponent was and what his opponent thought.
'Its almost evening.. huh? I want to go home, now though. Even though the first fights were interesting, after some time it got boring.
I just can't understand how Adam is still writing his reviews. I should try to finish this faster if I can. Who knows, maybe this Paul guy might be a fighter himself.'
Thinking to himself, Zeno prepares by stretching his legs and hands. Paul also makes preparation getting ready to summon his Slingshot.
"Start the Battle!!"
Adam shouts announcing the beginning of the battle, riling up the atmosphere.
The one who makes the first move is Paul. He had already formed a plan in his mind to defeat Zeno.
'First, create some distance.'
Within a second of time, Paul moves back turning away from Zeno
'Next, to take out my Slingshot'
Paul summons his Slingshot after making sure he had gained sufficient distance.
'Lastly, take an aim from my safe point.'
Thinking so, Paul aims his Slingshot at the opponent's direction only to see a punch coming straight to his face. The punch lands on Paul's face making him fall down thus ending the match quickly.
"That was too quick, though. Did you hold back?" Zeno asks the fallen Paul who was clutching his red nose thus adding insult to injury.
'Yeow.... yeow.. He must have started chasing me even before I started. But, how the hell did he know I would run back?'
Paul thought to himself while massaging the afflicted area.
Adam was a bit surprised by the event too. Honestly, he had expected it to be a draw or Zeno's loss. But it seems Zeno depended just on his physical strength to win the match. However he doesn't forget to give out his score.
"7 for Paul and 7.5 for Zeno.
Class is dismissed.
Zeno, take Paul to the infirmary to check whether he is Okay"
Adam says so as a final verdict. He was about to go on his way when he noticed Zeno standing in his way. He was blocking the way with such dead seriousness that he didn't care whether the former was his teacher or brother.
"I can't accept the score though. I want to know why my scores are just half a point more than his."
Zeno demands without stepping back. He was planning to go home till now, but he couldn't accept being given such an average score.
