Beautiful eyes
Ring ring ring.....
I take my phone from my bag and look at the caller id..it says "Mystery Guy". I changed the name a few days ago because he was being all mysterious abot his name, hence the change.
I pick up the call ready to chew him a little.
" Aahh...so the primary suspect decided to show himself and get out from hiding huh?"
"...."
"The unsub?"
"..."
There was silence for a minute from the other end. Then I finally hear that deep and sexy voice.
" What.....what happened? How am I a primary suspect? Did you hit your head or something or watched too much episodes of Criminal minds?"
'There it is..that amazingly sexy voice.' I think to myself but quickly realise that I'm supposed to be mad at him.
"You....you ...arghhh. This is all your fault. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't be in this state!" I yell at the phone while moving my other hand up and down and left and right.
"State? What state are you in? And what's with the creepy picture you sent me?" He replies totally unaffected by my outburst.
"That's how my eyes look like today and it's all because of you. You and your stupid and amazing and interesting book you told me about a few days back. And why did it have to be a series? And 600 pages each book. 3 books. 1800 pages. Did you know I lost sleep because of them? Who told you to recommend me such good stories? Couldn't you pick something boring and uninteresting?"
I started again on a new monologue not giving him any chances to retaliate. I was getting angry and by the end of it I was almost yelling in the phone with my brows furrowed and looking at it like it was my enemy.
I heard him stifling a laughter as best as he could but not good enough. By now I was fuming and ready to explode.
' How dare you laugh at me.' I thought to myself.
I already made plans in my mind on what to say including a few 'names'.
"Your eyes still look beautiful though." He says.
And just like that my angry bubble burst and turned into butterflies feeling giddy all of a sudden.
"Eh?" Speechless..that's what I was.
After a few seconds of silence....
"You have very beautiful eyes."
There it is again.
'How am I supposed to respond to that? That cheeky and flirty jerk!'
"A-ah...uhm t-thank y-you." I stuttered .
Yep..I stuttered. I'm an embarrassment to human language(i'm currently berating myself...don't mind me for a minute).
"So..how bad was your day?"
Good thing he changed the subject. Phew.
Then I started telling him about my day and the awkward glances I received from my co-workers and the reaction of Ryan when he saw my eyes.
"Ryan...huh. Who's Ryan?"
"Oh...just a colleague from the finance department. He usually brings me coffee every monday morning." I quickly respond.
"....."
Then continue with my speech about the day. Like I was just like a zombie..literally a zombie hungry for brains just that I was hungry for coffee instead.
Of course he was laughin for the most part at my misfortune. But for some reason I didn't get angry at him. I was eager to hear him laugh more.
I started to like him, a stranger, whose name I didn't even know, without me realising it. Before I knew it I was enjoying our conversations and couldn't wait for evening to come.
Maybe life might not be so boring anymore.
And just like that another week passed by in the blink of an eye. Talking on the phone almost every evening and texting more often during the day wishing me a 'nice day' or saying 'good morning'. Of course I replied to all of them. Why wouldn't I? Talking with my Mystery Guy was the best part of my day, every single day since two weeks ago.
I even took the initiative to text first twice.
Not even in my wildest dreams would I imagine a situation like this. Talking with a total stranger, whom I know almost nothing about, eager to hear his voice and read his texts like i'm a teenager in love, feeling giddy at my crush 's smallest reaction toward me.
