Chapter 32: Meditating and Transformation
Calmly emptying my mind, like I was taught when learning martial arts, I enter a meditative state. Slowly but surely I circulate my mana through my body. To start I only use my lightning elemental mana paying attention to how it courses through my body. Seeing that it more naturally flows through my muscles. Not wanting to get ahead of myself I continue to see if there are other places it flows more naturally.
Finally confirming that I found all the channels better suited for lightning, I start testing how to channel it without the system. Making sure my mana output is low I start trying to have it interact. No matter how much I try though it isn't working.
Taking a step back I try and think about why it wouldn't work, when my mind drifts to how magic works with its tiers. Realizing that it works by visualizing how it takes effect. So again I try visualizing the mana energizing my muscle tissue making it so their movement speed is higher. As I do this though, I suddenly become very glad I limited my mana output. As it courses through my body, I realize why people haven't made this ability yet. It hurts like ****ing hell, even with the limited output. Thankfully, it isn't to the point that I'd make a sound, I don't want to worry Talia.
Immediately stopping I look at my muscles and see that they are a little damaged from the strain. Quickly I run life mana through imagining it speeding up the process of healing and feel instant relief. It seems like it can be used easily because of its healing nature. Continuing this process I repeatedly try and figure out how to do my ability.
Feeling I can't make anymore progress today I just start some regular meditation. After feeling my mental state become at least manageably okay I come back out.
Getting up from the bed I run life mana while doing some light stretches. Feeling rather tired I decide that I need some sleep. Laying down on my bed I fall asleep almost instantly into a dreamless sleep.
Waking up the next day I talk to Talia, opening up a little about how I felt when I got back yesterday. It was really helpful since she had experienced the same thing, In fact she was almost done with her merger. Apparently they found out that a person can only have one additional bloodline, so she has a bloodline of light and life even more powerful than mine now. She may possible be quite high level as well.
Like this a month passed, each procedure just as painful as the last, with an acception of the last in which everything changed at once. They were fascinated with how everything could just happen all at once, the only thing that kept me from going insane from the pain was the mission giving me hope of escape.
At the beginning first a burning feeling could be felt in my ears, until I couldn't hear anything. Following this it felt like someone was slowly cutting my ear off. Then on top of my head another burning sensation started, but this time my hearing came back just a little dull. The hearing started coming back into focus as the pain extended past my skull. The pain then starts to extend from the tip of my tail bone, shooting through my spine. Slowly the pain extends fro about two and a half feet (~.75 meters) away but fairly thin. Finally it subsides as I gasp from the pain finally able to do something other than whimper. Refocusing my mind I try to activate my hearing finding it even sharper than it used to be, and on top of my head instead. What I hear shocks me to my core.
Apparently, with the first success of the top scientist, as well as the most powerful, will go report to the head honcho. Knowing that this will be my chance I know that I need to move tonight. In fact, I figured out what I needed to do for my abilities a few days ago. I made sure to wait until an opportunity presented itself. I found out that my problem was that I was trying to channel through everything. There are specific channels that you need to use, and when mana goes through them it distributes them to your muscles. So in trying to do it myself, it caused dissonance between the mana there and the mana the channels tried distributing. So all I had to do is find where all the channels were for my ability and I was golden. One thing I found out is that the slave brand was actually able to be dispelled through my ability, which is probably why that was listed as a reward. Tomorrow morning I would make my move, the scientist would have been long gone and wouldn't be back for a week.
