Chapter 8: The Adventurers Guild
As we walked up to the gate a lot of bizarre looks appeared on everyone's faces. I mean anyone would feel weird seeing a 5'2" girl easily dragging a man over twice her weight.
Once at the gate I paid the entrance fee of 30 copper for the six of us and asked where I could find the Adventurers Guild. They quickly told me that it was in the center of town and just to follow this main road. We found an inn which I told the girls to wait at, after which I went to the guild.
I haul Broderick onto my shoulder and make my way to the Adventurers Guild in the center of the city. Before I even make it there news has already made it to the guild that some 5'2" girls is bringing an unconscious bandit boss there. Though shocked they quickly prepared everything ahead of time. When I walk into the guild I notice the bounty counter is empty and walk up to it to hand over Broderick the Nightmare. Behind the counter is a beast-kin girl with what looks like cat ears, though secretly delighted I keep a calm appearance.
"Hi, I'm here to turn in the bounty for Broderick the Nightmare, I'd also like to sign up to be a member of the Adventurers Guild," I say to the cat woman.
A look of shock appears on her face as she realizes I'm not already and adventurer, but she quickly calmed herself. "Yes, I'll take care of the bounty right away, it should all be ready in half an hour. Registration is at the counter on the other side of the room." As she said this a burly man cam over and took Broderick off of my hands, letting me head over to the registration counter.
As I finish off there I start to head over to the registration counter. "I'd like to officially become an adventurer, how would I be able to do that," I ask the human girl in front of me.
With a smile she replied, "oh, that's actually very simple, all you need to do is fill out and submit this form, then take a skills test."
As I took the form from the amicable girl, I suddenly realized that I was able to read the language of this world. Thankful for this hidden blessing I start to fill out the application from.

After I finished filling out the form I passed back the form to the young girl, whose expression went from surprise to shock as she finished reading the form. A look of horror and admiration, bordering on worship, filled her eyes as she looked at me. As she was looking at me I barely heard her say "double affinity High Human, with an additional affinity." Though not able to hear her, the adventurers in the guild were shocked to see such a reaction from the girl, knowing how calm she was even in the most shocking events. Slowly people started to whisper, guessing what it might have been that shocked her so much.
The girl quickly went into the back and when she came back, there was a middle aged man with scars all over his body trailing behind her. It was easy to tell that this man had been in and uncountable amount of life and death situations.
"Hello Tess, I'm going to to be testing your combat ability today, just follow me toward the combat arena. You don't have to worry about confidentiality, no one other than the guild master and his direct subordinates are allowed in during testing." He said this with a calm voice that emanated an incredible confidence and authority. I didn't know who this man was but I was almost certain that he was not only one of those people he mentioned, but was also incredibly powerful. I started to become excited from the pressure that I was starting to feel, despite the battle not even starting yet.
We both quickly got into our positions on the battle arena and faced each other. An invisible momentum built up around me, and my battle intent soared as I looked at the man. A surprised expression appeared on his face quickly followed by a wide smirk, it was easy to tell his excitement. What I didn't know was that the battle intent I let out far exceeded most veterans, which made the mans excitement get so high.

XantosZ First and foremost, thank you guys for reading my book. I will always love to take any criticisms you guys have, I want to improve. Super glad I was able to get in a double release today, it was kinda a fluke it was able to flow today probably won't happen all that often in the future.
Second, I would love to take suggestions with possible love interests for Winter, who now goes by Tess, to be able to introduce in the future. Since she is bisexual either gender is fine. It doesn't have to be a love interest though, if you have a character idea I would love to take it into consideration, just put it in the comments section.
