Chapter 435: Fighting back
"Now. Do as I say, and no one needs to get hurt." he said. Yu Chen breathed a small sigh of relief. It seems like they were normal muggers, and did not want to hurt them as much as Chen did not want to get hurt.
"Give up everything you have got. Phone, wallets, watches, jewellery, everything. And be quick about it." he said, waving his knife in Xiao Hai's face. Yu Chen took out her phone and wallet and gave it to the man, she was reaching for the small necklace she was wearing when she saw Xiao Hai drop his watch.
The man with the knife at his throat cursed and stooped down to retrieve it. Chen saw a blur as Xiao Hai slammed an elbow in the back of the man and kicked his face. Yu Chen made the decision in an instant and kicked back, hard, at the man behind her.
She got the knee she was aiming for and the man went down, but cried out in pain the next instant as the man slashed at her feet with the knife in his hand. Yu Chen bit her tongue to clear her head and kicked once again at the man behind her. This time she got her face. Chen saw the third man leaping towards Xiao Hai and tried to cry out to warn him, but Xiao Hai's cry as the third man got to him with his knife drowned it out. Yu Chen grabbed the knife the man behind her had dropped, but she was too late as the man itself reached out and grabbed her ankle, making her fall to the ground.
She slashed at the man just as Xiao Hai was being butchered by one of them. It looked like he was seriously hurt and in no position to fight back. Tears threatened to fall from Chen's eyes but she willed them away. Just as she was elbowing the man she was fighting, Xiao Hai let out another blood-curling scream, and Chen's heart sunk seeing he was stabbed.
He cried out further when his opponent twisted the knife.
It was just then that a shadow passed Chen an someone landed a heavy punch on the man who had stabbed Xiao Hai. Yu Chen had no time to wonder about their savior, she quickly put all the self-defense Xia had taught her into action and was soon standing, having slashed her opponent twice. He looked at the scene in the alley, and seeing that things were going south, he tucked his tail between his legs and fled the alley.
Yu Chen turned to help their savior, but he cried out at that instant. "Stay back!" Chen stopped dead in her tracks. She knew this man! "SAM!?!?!?" she shrieked, just as Sam aimed a well timed kick at the man's knife hand and the knife flew from his fingers. "Stay back!" Sam called again, "Take care of him." He motioned with his head to Xiao Hai, who was now lying in the alleyway, blood seeping horribly fast into his clothes.
"Oh my god, oh my god. Xiao Hai! Stay with me. Stay with me. My phone! My phone?!" Yu Chen scrambled in the dark alley for her phone.
