Chapter 433: Visiting friends
Once she was done, Yu Chen sat put the flowers and books beside the grave. "Good morning Anxia. How are you?" she said, "I figured you might be bored since neither me nor Xia are able to visit much, so I brought you some books to read while you wait. I am going to visit Kio after this, should I tell him you're bored? Are you angry that he doesn't visit? Don't be. He's just too busy. Being the heir to the Mo empire and all that. But I will make sure to give him a good scolding for not taking out proper time for you."
She then continued to tell Anxia all that had been going on with her life. Yu Chen had no idea why, but she had never gotten around to telling Mo Anxia that Kio was in a coma. She hadn't said a word about the accident, and apparently Xia hadn't too. He'd told her as much when she had asked him about it. Chen had no idea why she hadn't been able to talk about it, but Si Xia had very proudly said, "He's going to wake up soon anyway. It's no point worrying her." "Plus, I think it would be funny to watch him apologize for not visiting for so long." he had added with a wink.
After about an hour or so, Yu Chen stood up and stretched. She dusted her buttocks and said, "Well, I really need to get going now Anxia. I promise I'll try to visit as much as I can. And pester Xia about it too. Byee."
Chen walked out of the cemetery and stood waiting for Xiao Hai at the entrance. Yu Chen closed her eyes as she remembered the first time she had ever come here. Mo Kio had brought her here to tell her Anxia's story. It had coincidentally also been the last time they had talked. Kio had gotten in an accident as he was going home from here.
Tears formed in Chen's eyes as she thought about that night. She had spent countless days thinking about how different could it all have been. She still blamed herself at some level for the accident, even though everyone, including Mr. and Mrs. Mo, had told her it wasn't. But Chen couldn't stop thinking about it.
If only she hadn't decided to go on a date that day, Mo Kio would have driven her home and never gotten in an accident. He was always much more cautious when he had someone sitting behing on that bike. The death bike, as Chen had liked to once call it. She had had no idea how ill-omened he words had been. Whenever she thought back, Chen wanted to slap herself.
Yu Chen shook her head and pulled herself to reality at the sound of a car honk. She gave a small smile to Xiao Hai as she gave him to the address of the hospital Kio was admitted in.
Chen settled back and closed her eyes as the car began to move, still lost in the thoughts of all that had happened that night.
Chen was still thinking about it when she thanked Xiao Hai and got out of the car. It was late and there was heavy traffic on the road to her apartment.
