"Umm . . . Good evening. Nice to meet you." Yu Chen spoke, standing up and bowing. She had a lot of respect and gratitude for this lady in front of her, for having loved and taken care of Xia in his childhood.
The lady smiled as she said, "Of course. Where are my manners. I'm Miss Anhao, I used to be the caretaker of Our Home, the orphanage where Xia grew up in."
Chen wanted to so badly tell Miss Anhao that she knew. That she appreciated her for all she had done for Xia, and for how much she still cared for him.
But it wouldn't do to blow her cover, so Chen replied with a smile, "Hello. I'm Min Jim. I'm Xi Hua's nephew."
"Oh Xi Hua." Miss Anhao spoke with a smile. "She's that young girl engaged to that friend of Si Xia's. What's his name?"
"Huo Zenghai." Chen replied.
"Huo Zenghai. Of course. A nice boy. He used to come with Xia sometimes to help at the orphanage. He's a good kid. This Xi Hua is lucky." Miss Anhao rambled on as Yu Chen listened patiently. Like all old people, she had the habit of going on and on.
"Anyway, you still haven't told me why you are sitting here all by yourself, Min Jim." Miss Anhao said suddenly, recovering from her rambling.
"Well, our dog suddenly got very sick and my mother had to rush him to the hospital. So she urgently called Aunty Hua to babysit me. But aunty was, well, she had to arrange all this. So I said I would come with her. She could watch me and host this party. And as for sitting in the corner, well, I know no one here." Chen replied with a shrug.
She had already thought out this whole story beforehand for anyone who would ask. To hide herself, Chen had today dressed up as a young boy, wearing a casual t-shirt with a checked shirt on top and baggy jeans. She also had on a wig of messy jet black hair.
With her youthful make-up on top of her casual outfit, Chen could easily have passed as a boy who went to college.
But she had apparently gone too far as Miss Anhao asked with a smile, "And which standard are you in?"
Chen almost spat out the juice she was drinking in Miss Anhao's face. Standard? Did she look like a school going boy? "Actually, I'm in college and live in another city. Am home for the holidays." Yu Chen replied between coughing.
Her coughing had drawn the attention of Xi Hua, who instantly recognised those green eyes as she was passing by. Hua's eyes widened as she looked at Chen.
Just as she opened her mouth to say something, Yu Chen interupted her.
"Aunty Hua! I love this party!! It's for President Si right? Uncle Zenghai's boss? I admire him so much!!!" Chen quickly said. "Aunty Hua?" Xi Hua muttered in confusion before her eyes fell on Miss Anhao.
She greeted her with a smile before pulling Chen away.
"Why are you dressed like . . . like this!!!" Xi Hua whispered, dragging Yu Chen to a corner. "And Aunty Hua?!?!?" she exclaimed.
"I'll explain everything." Chen said hurriedly, trying to not draw too much attention.
