Huo Zenghai sighed as he fixed his tie and ran his hands through his hair. "God! I never imagined I could be this nervous." he muttered to himself.
He took out a delicate velvet box from his pocket and stared at it. As Zenghai opened the box, his phone buzzed.
He pulled it out and smiled. It was a text from Si Xia. 'I saw a pic of Hua, she looks beautiful. I would send you the pic, but I think it will be better if your reaction is genuine. Now go and pick her up.'
As he was reading this, Zenghai received another text. This time from Yu Chen. She had sent, 'Hua looks heavenly Zenghai!! I'm so jealous of you. I think it's a consolation I saw her before you did.'
Huo Zenghai chuckled as he slipped his phone back in his pocket. These two were abnormally in sync. It was almost like they had planned everything.
But the good thing was that Zenghai was no longer nervous, he was only excited and wanted to see Hua as soon as possible. He grabbed his car keys and rushed out of his apartment.
Yu Chen circled around Xi Hua and admired her from all angles.
Hua stood in front of a mirror, looking a bit anxiously at her reflection.
"Say Chen, do I really look okay? I don't want to embarrass Zenghai at the event." she said.
Yu Chen slapped her forehead and said, "Are you kidding!! You look so beautiful that I'm jealous of Zenghai. I'm seriously contemplating cheating on Si Xia right now."
Xi Hua chuckled as Chen showed her phone and said, "Look. What the devil says."
It was a text from Si Xia. It said, 'I always say I'm the luckiest guy in the world, but I think Zenghai is giving me a very good competition.'
Xi Hua chuckled upon reading the text and said, "You guys are too much."
Chen laughed and pinched Hua's cheeks before she said, "Okay. I have to go get ready too. I really want to see how surprised Xia will look seeing me there."
Xi Hua spoke as she turned around to look at herself from various angles, "Do you think he'll recognise you? In that crowd?"
Chen turned her head with one hand on the door. "He will." she said before walking out.
Xi Hua smiled and turned back to look at the mirror.
Xi Hua was wearing a dark maroon dress that completely matched the suit she had picked out for Zenghai. The dress was off shoulder on one shoulder and long sleeved the other side and fell down to her toes. The dress was plain except a single golden rose printed at the exact spot where her heart was beating so fast.
Yu Chen had done her hair in an elegant bun at the nape of her neck and some strands fell on her forehead. Xi Hua was awed as she touched her face.
She had to admit, though Chen didn't like shopping or dressing up, she had the skills and taste to become a fashion icon.
Chen heard the doorbell ring just as she was pulling a sweater over her head and rushed out of her room, hastily pulling on her sweater.
