Chapter 340: We'll be all right
Chen walked forward with a frown on her face and ruffled Xia's hair. She then stepped back and put her hands on her hips.
"You look perfect now." Chen's face broke into a smile.
Xi Hua: "..."
Si Xia was surprised before he shook his head and a smile escaped his lips. "How about meeting your parents then? If I look perfect?" Si Xia asked as he stood up.
Yu Chen nodded like a little child and put her arm in his. The two left the apartment, looking very happy and very much in love.
"God! Never let the smiles disappear from their faces. They have earned it." Xi Hua mumbled to herself as she waved goodbye to them.
Yu Chen was very excited and could barely sit still through the ride to her village.
She kept jumping up and down in her seat and excitedly telling Xia one story or another from her childhood.
Si Xia listened with a smile and knew that he was the happiest man in the world.
"But do you think you really deserve all this happiness? You? Who probably wouldn't have changed his choices if they had arisen this time?" a voice spoke in Xia's head.
Si Xia's smile vanished as he seriously began contemplating if he deserved Chen or not.
"Xia? Xia!?!? Xia!!!!" Si Xia was brought back by the sound of Chen's voice calling him.
"Yeah." he looked at Chen's face and forced out a smile.
Yu Chen was a bit taken aback by the forced smile. She stared at Si Xia's face for a minute before she leaned forward and pecked him on the cheek. "Don't overthink. We'll be all right." Chen mumbled before sinking back into her seat.
Though it was only a sentence, Si Xia's tension immediately drained and somehow he knew that what Chen had said was true. They would be all right. No matter what.
While Si Xia and Yu Chen were driving to meet her parents, Xi Hua, now left alone, was getting more nervous by the second.
She had been all right with Chen's cheerful voice and Xia's calming presence, but left to herself, all sorts of thoughts ran in her mind.
Xi Hua was getting a weird feeling in her stomach when the doorbell buzzed.
She got up, wondering who it was, and walked to the door.
Xi Hua opened the door and was pleasantly surprised. "Zenghai!" she exclaimed and jumped on Huo Zenghai, who was at the door.
Zenghai's lips curved into a warm smile as he kissed the top of Hua's head and asked, "Did Chen and Xia leave?"
"Yeah." Xi Hua muttered, burying her face in Zenghai's shirt.
Huo Zenghai chuckled as he wrapped his arms around Xi Hua's waist, "Oh, so we're alone? Are we?" Xi Hua blushed upon hearing his suggestive tone. She pulled away from him and lightly punched his chest, saying, "Stop kidding. We have to meet your parents. Why are you here so early?"
Huo Zenghai shrugged as he came in, "I had nothing better to do."
A warm feeling spread in Hua's heart as she gazed at Zenghai's back. This man did not always explicitly speak of his love, but his actions left no doubt about it.
