After Xi Hua had changed and was ready to hang out in the living room before tucking in for the night, she was very surprised to see Yu Chen eating a bowl of noodles as she entered the dining room.
"Chen? Why are you eating noodles? Is there something wrong? Do you feel sick?" Xi Hua asked as she walked upto Chen.
Yu Chen chuckled and said, "Can't you stop getting so worked up at every little thing? And to answer your question, there's nothing wrong with me. I'm completely fine."
Xi Hua frowned, "Then why....?"
"Cause I made dinner for two." Chen replied nonchalantly and went back to her noodles.
Xi Hua's eyes widened as she realised the truth.
She and Si Xia had finished the dinner and there was nothing left for Yu Chen!! Xi Hua sighed internally as she looked at Yu Chen, enjoying the bowl of noodles, "She's too selfless. How can a person be so kind and yet stubborn at the same time?"
After Xi Hua had gone back to her room to sleep, Yu Chen picked up her purse Si Xia had dropped off and pulled out her phone. She stared at it before dialling a number.
The call connected after a few rings and Sam's excited voice came from the other end, "Hello? Hello!?!? Chen?!?!"
"Yeah." Yu Chen replied in a small voice.
"Why do you sound so low? Is something wrong??" Sam asked again.
Yu Chen wanted to puke at the disguised worry in his voice.
She spoke, "Sorry for not staying in touch the past few days. Can we meet?" trying to make her voice as emotionless as possible.
"Yeah of course!!!! I was getting really worried when you didn't reply to my texts and pick up my calls!!!!!" Sam's voice was excited with no hint of worry in it now.
"How about tomorrow?" Chen asked.
"Great!!! Tomorrow is great!!!" Sam exclaimed.
Yu Chen: "Okay then. I'll come find you at the hotel."
As she was about to hang up, Sam's voice came, "No wait!!! I'm not at the hotel."
"Huh?" Chen tilted her head.
Sam explained, "I got an apartment for rent. You can come there."
"Sure. Text me the address. See you tomorrow." Yu Chen said an hung up the phone.
Sam stared at his mobile in confusion. Yu Chen sounded weird.
"Of course she would sound weird. She would be so broken after what you did." a voice whispered in Sam's mind.
Sam shook his head, "I'll stich her together again. She'll realise I'm a million times better than that Si Xia. I'm just glad she wants to meet. It means I have a chance." He pushed away the first voice out of his mind as he texted his adress to Chen.
The next day, Yu Chen took her time to get ready after Xi Hua left for work.
She wore a bright yellow knee length sleeveless dress with a Chinese collar. The dress was printed with dark green vines with beautiful leaves that seemed to be climbing up Chen's body. She pulled her hair into a low ponytail, which turned messy as the hair at the top of her head came out, being too short.
Chen thought of putting on some make-up, but decided against it.
She gave herself one last look in the mirror before coming out of her room.
