Chapter 317: How could he do that?
"Yeah...." Si Xia replied rubbing his head.
So much had happened this morning that he could not believe it was still around eight o'clock.
Xi Hua was silent for a minute before she said, "Hey Xia? I'm sorry. I'm really sorry the way I treated you."
Si Xia let out a tired smile, he felt like this was what everyone was telling everyone lately.
"Don't be. I would have actually judged you if you haven't treated me that way. After all I did...." Si Xia's voice trailed off, the beginning of another awkward silence.
"Hey, is Zenghai there?" Xia asked after a few moments.
"Yeah. Just a sec." Xi Hua said as there was a scrambling noise. Hua ran to Huo Zenghai who was cooking in the kitchen and handed him the phone.
Zenghai raised an eyebrow as he put the phone to his ear, "Hello?"
Si Xia said, "Hey Zenghai. Sorry I won't make it to the company today. Tell Chuan for me, will you? And ask him to call me if anything important comes up. Could you do that?"
"Sure....." Huo Zenghai replied, wondering what had changed that the workaholic Si Xia was not going to the company today. "Is everything all right?" he asked.
"Yeah." Si Xia said as he massaged his head, "I'm just feeling a little under the weather. I'll be better after I rest a bit."
Huo Zenghai mumbled, "Sure. Get better soon. Call if you need anything."
"Of course." Si Xia replied with a smile. He really had good friends.
Zenghai disconnected the call staring weirdly at the phone.
"Xia sounded weird. I wonder what happened?" he mumbled as he handed the phone back to Hua.
Hua replied as she sat down on a chair deep in thought, "Something must have happened. Xia said Chen's back at the apartment. Let's go."
Huo Zenghai nodded. "Sure. You eat. I'll go change. Then we can head out."
Xi Hua nodded and took a bite of the breakfast Huo Zenghai had made.
Si Xia sighed as he put the phone back in Chen's purse. As he did that, something glittered inside her purse. Xia frowned and pulled it out, wondering if Yu Chen would get mad at him for doing that.
Si Xia opened his palm and looked at what was inside it. As he did so, Si Xia froze and tears welled up in his eyes.
He stared long at the object and then looked inside the purse, searching for something. Finally Xia found what he was looking for and
pulled out the other clip.
He sat down with a thump on the floor, staring at the two butterfly shaped clips in his hand, that he had broken beyond repair.
But somehow Yu Chen had managed to glue them back together very meticulously and they looked almost the same, except for the clearly visible cracks, showing that they had been glued back.
Si Xia brought the clips to his forehead and wept like a child. How could he have done that to Chen? What was he thinking? Was he even thinking? How could he treat an angel like that?
Hadn't he promised himself not to let another tear roll down Chen's eye? Then why had he become the reason she was in despair?
