Chapter 292: I'm done. I'm leaving all up to you
Yu Chen took a deep breath and said in one breath, "What I'm saying is that I tried. I tried my best. I gave our relationship my 100%. But I'm done now. So, whatever happens next, depends on you. You want to talk, I'm sitting right here. You wanna leave, the door is open, and I'm in no condition to stop you. You want a promise that I'll never disturb you, you just have to say the word."
Yu Chen went silent after saying this.
Her heart felt unbelievably light. Saying this out loud had really helped her clear her mind. She had decided now, and she was going to see it through.
When Si Xia spoke, his voice was shaking, "So
... you're giving up on us? On me?"
Yu Chen shook her head. Her mind was clear now, she knew what she wanted and what she was doing. "I'm not giving up on anything. I'm leaving the decision upto you. I've done all I could. Really. Physically, mentally, I'm tired. I'll now go along with whatever you want. I'm leaving this relationship upto you." Yu Chen said, staring at the apples. "After all, if only one person clings on the other, that's not love. That's need." she added as an afterthought.
Si Xia stared long and hard at Yu Chen.
He had not expected her to be this strong. He did not know what he had expected, but this had not been it. Xia was suddenly hit by the contrast between the Chen he had been ignoring the past days and the Chen now.
Si Xia had always known that Yu Chen could and would do anything for him.
But he was suddenly hit by the fact that she had already done all she was willing to do for any person who would not even talk to her.
Yu Chen's words broke into Xia's thoughts, "I'm not asking you to make a decision now. Take your time, but.....if Hua wakes up to see you here...I just.... don't want to burden her anymore."
Si Xia nodded with resolution. His decision was already made, "I wanna talk. I want to sort it all out." he said.
All the tension drained out of Chen's heart as she nodded. She had really begun to consider the option that Si Xia might give up on her.
As Xia opened his mouth to say something, Sam's words from their meeting came into his mind and his resolution failed.
He put a hand on his forehead and said, "I wanna talk. But I need some time. I need to sort out my thoughts."
Yu Chen forced out a smile and nodded, "Take all the time you need, I'm not going anywhere."
"Then, I'll come find you." Si Xia said as he stood up.
As Xia reached the door, Yu Chen said in a small voice, "And Xia? I don't want to be a responsibility upon you. So if you really have fallen for her, Chang, was her name? Choose only for love. Not out of responsibility."
Si Xia listened quietly to Yu Chen and left without a word, not even looking back.
