Chapter 287: Yu Chen is feeling guilty
Xi Hua came running when she heard that Chen was awake.
Upon entering the room, Hua saw Yu Chen lying in bed staring out of the window at the early morning sky.
When she heard the door open, Chen turned her head and her face broke into one of her rare smiles, the ones that lit up her face like the sun. And made the people looking at it feel like they were looking at the most beautiful thing in the world.
But the next moment the smile was gone. It was replaced by a guilty look. Yu Chen stared at Hua from under her eyelashes, looking like a child who was afraid of the scolding that was coming, but knew it was inevitable.
Xi Hua looked at Chen for a few seconds before she put her hand to her forehead, "Why the hell do you look like a kid who broke her mom's favourite vase?"
Yu Chen's face was still very guilty as she said, "I'm sorry Hua."
Xi Hua put her hands to her hips and fixed Chen with a stare. "For....?" she asked.
"For sneaking out." Yu Chen replied in a small voice.
"And....?" Hua raised an eyebrow.
Yu Chen pouted, "And for not wearing proper warm clothes."
Xi Hua took a step forward, "And....?"
Yu Chen hung her head, "And for giving the milk with the sleeping pill to Ling Ning."
"Nothing else....?" Hua asked. She was almost at Chen's bedside now.
"And for doing everything else you did not want me to." Chen's voice by now was so small that it was barely audible.
Xi Hua sighed as she touched Chen's forehead, "You're not sorry about breaking your promise? Your temperature is normal. That's good."
"About that...." Chen raised her head to look at Hua. "What?" Xi Hua asked, raising her eyebrows.
Chen's eyes flitted across the room as she said, "Technically....I did not break my promise. I.... climbed out of a window. Did not take a step out of the door." "Technically." Chen added, seeing the angry look on Hua's face.
Xi Hua glared at Yu Chen to the point it got awkward before she put her hand to her forehead and said, fighting back a smile, "Honestly!! Leave it to you to find a loophole in everything."
Yu Chen also let out a guilty smile as she said, "I'm sorry. And umm... Hua...."
"What do you want now?" Xi Hua asked as her face turned stern.
Yu Chen shook her head , "Nothing much. Just that.... I really have to pee and the nurse said I couldn't get up. What should I do?" She said, clearly embarrassed.
"Puuu!!!!!" Xi Hua burst out laughing.
After Hua had helped Chen pee, Yu Chen looked at her again, "Hua?"
"Hmm?" Xi Hua asked, fussing with Chen's blanket.
"Could you remove all these needles? They are really making me sick." Yu Chen said, sounding like she was anticipating another scolding.
Xi Hua sighed as she said, "The doctor will be here any second. He will decide if you can be taken off these nutrients or not. I really can't do much about it."
Yu Chen nodded to indicate she understood and then turned silent.
