Chapter 285: She needed you
"Get. Out." She spat through gritted teeth.
Si Xia stared at her wide eyed. He drew himself to his full height amd Xi Hua suddenly felt what people felt standing in front of President Si.
"Why should I?" Xia said in an authoritative voice.
Xi Hua frowned before she pointed at Chen, "Look at her. Just look at her. Do you need any more reason?"
Si Xia's eyes dimmed but he was unwilling to back down, "All the more reason for me to stay. She needs me."
Xi Hua laughed bitterly before she said, "You got that a bit wrong. She needed you. As in past tense."
Si Xia's voice faltered a little, "I'm not going."
Xi Hua: "Oh yes you are. But, wait a minute, I'll let you stay if you can answer a few of my questions."
Si Xia: "Anything."
Xi Hua: "Where were you when she froze to death?"
Si Xia: "I-I....I....."
Xi Hua: "What did you do everytime she tried to talk to you the past two days?"
Si Xia: "....."
Xi Hua: "Where were you when I found Chen out in the cold every damn morning?"
Si Xia: "..."
Xi Hua: "You claim to love her? How could you leave her out in the cold like that?"
Si Xia: "....."
Xi Hua: "What? No answer? Is the great President Si speechless in front of a lowly nurse? Isn't he even able to answer his girlfriend's best friend?"
Si Xia looked down, tearing his eyes away from Hua's.
"I'm not done Mr. Si. Let me ask you something else, what did you do when Chen cried, asking you to talk to her? What did you do as she waited outside your house? Hoping for you to just hear her out?" Xi Hua continued, tapping Xia's chest with her finger, "You ask me why should you leave!?!? Let me tell you why the hell should you leave. Yu Chen has not eaten for a whole day but she still went to your house, hoping to talk to you. Hoping to sort it all out."
"You should leave because you damn let her freeze to death outside your damn door!!!!" Hua was panting by the time she finished.
Fearing another outburst, the nurses rushed forward and grabbed Xi Hua, who said, "I'm fine."
Then, turning to give one last stare to Si Xia, she said, "She needed you. She needed you like air. But you weren't there. So leave now. And don't dare show your face here again. God knows what I'll do if I find you anywhere near Chen."
She then whipped around and walked out of the door.
Si Xia stood rooted to a spot, he lifted his head to look at Chen but Xi Hua was back again, holding Oreo in her arms.
She knelt beside Chen's bed and Oreo nudged Chen's lifeless hand with his nose. He went quiet after whining for a minute.
Xi Hua stood up and set Oreo in Xia's arms.
She said, stroking his head, "Take good care of Oreo. Chen loves him. And looks like he is the only one who reciprocates her feelings."
She then walked to the door and dialled a number. "Zenghai? Come pick up Xia at the hospital. He's in no condition to drive." She said into the phone before going out.
