Chapter 256: Cheering up Chen
Yu Chen forced out a smile, "I wish I could, but I've got an important coding competition today."
Xi Hua furrowed her brows, "Chen, you know I hate it when you lie."
Yu Chen was surprised, "I'm not lying. I really have a coding competition. It's an annual one, so it's pretty important."
Xi Hua: "Not that. How you said you wished you could go shopping with me."
Yu Chen raised as eyebrow, "Why do you assume I'm lying?"
Hua sighed, "When was the last time you enjoyed shopping with me? Let's see....Hmm..
That's right! Never."
Chen sighed as a smile formed on her lips, not a forced one, but a genuine smile, "I do enjoy shopping with you. Just the first hour. After that, I'm too tired and hungry to even know what we are doing."
Xi Hua humped, "What kind of a girl are you? You get tired shopping!?!?"
Yu Chen stuck out her tongue, "The kind you love."
Xi Hua smiled, shook her head and went back to her breakfast. She had accomplished her objective, cheering up Chen.
Xi Hua was washing the dishes and Yu Chen was clearing the dining table when the doorbell rang. Xi Hua said, "Chen, could you get that? It's probably Zenghai."
"Coming to go to his own funeral." Yu Chen muttered as she headed for the door.
"Huh? What was that?" Hua's voice was heard, to which Chen shouted with a guilty smile, "Nothing!" as she opened the door.
Just as Hua had predicted, Huo Zenghai was standing at the door, wearing a casual brown hoodie and white trousers under his black overcoat. He smiled as Chen opened the door, "Yo Chen!! Feeling adventurous today too?"
Yu Chen stuck out her tongue at him, "Yeah. I feel like telling a certain girl that her boyfriend is probably dragging himself unwillingly to shopping with her."
Zenghai laughed as he came in, "You can never prove that."
Yu Chen pointed towards the pocket of his hoodie, "You sure about that?" And before Huo Zenghai could react, she had snatched out a tablet that was poking out from the pocket.
Chen muttered as she looked at it, "Hmm, I'm sure Hua will probably believe me if I show her how you've got cook code's site opened on a tablet."
Zenghai snatched back the tablet and muttered, "You won't do that."
Yu Chen whispered, "I won't if you tell me all of the Si corporation's inner secrets."
Huo Zenghai looked at Chen with horror, and she used this opportunity to snatch the tablet from him and run towards the kitchen, yelling, "Hua! Hua!!! Look what I found!!!!"
Xi Hua was still busy with the dishes as Yu Chen entered. She turned around, surprised, "What did you find?"
Just as she was about to say, Huo Zenghai ran into the kitchen and covered Chen's mouth. He grabbed her and the two fought playfully like a couple of kids. Zenghai let Chen go when he had retrieved the tablet. He instantly switched it off and panted, "There.... Now...your....proof is.....gone.."
Yu Chen also panted as she slumped onto a chair, "Hmmf...."
Xi Hua sighed as she cleaned her hands, "You two are really behaving like kids."
