A boy was waving to Jackson standing just beside the stage, "Hey Jackson? Up for another round?"
Jackson waved back, "Not tonight. I think I'll head home."
The boy nodded and turned towards the stage. But when Jackson turned around, he was shocked to find no girl in a joker mask behind. It looked like she had completely vanished. He searched the surrounding area with his eyes, but found no trace. Jackson sighed.
Yu Chen had slipped away as soon as Jackson had turned around. She was already at the entrance of the stadium by the time he noticed she was gone. Yu Chen leaned against a quiet corner and waited for Xia to come. She was filled with guilt with what she had done and decided not to squirm her way out fo whatever the others were going to say. She could easily distract them, well Xia at least, but she was not going to. She had earned whatever he did. Even if it was forbidding her from dancing anymore.
Chen was still lost in thought when her eyes caught a dark brown Ferrari. There was no mistaking that car, and even if someone did, the brooding face visible in the window would wipe away all doubts.
Chen took a deep breath and walked towards the car. When she was a few feet from the car, Xia said through gritted teeth, "Don't even try. I'm in a bad enough mood as it is."
Yu Chen was taken aback at his statement. What? He wanted her not to come to the car? What the hell? Should she just hail a taxi and he wanted to follow in his car. Yu Chen was still confused when Si Xia, greatly annoyed, looked at her.
He had never failed to recognise Chen in any of her disguises, so he had not this time did not cross her mind. But Xia was too angry to be thinking clearly. He had not known that it was Chen and had looked up to shoo the girl away, but never could he miss that dark brown bob haircut.
He said through gritted teeth again, "Get in."
Yu Chen stood rooted on the spot. He had asked her not to come any closer, now he was saying to get in the car, which was it?
Seeing that she did not move, Xia's face darkened, "Do you want to freeze to death? Or maybe you think going back inside would be more fun?"
It was then that Yu Chen realised how cold it had gotten. She had not realised before as she had been hot from dancing first and paralysed with fear next. Chen quietly moved around the car and got in the passenger seat. It wasn't until Chen had got into the warm car that she realised how cold she was. The heater felt almost hot to her, not warm.
Chen looked out of the window and was glad that it was not snowing tonight as Si Xia started the car.
Yu Chen soon began to feel stuffy in the car, it was not the heat, rather the atmosphere.
She turned her head to look at Xia, his profile in the shimmering lights of the passing buildings. His face was completely in the dark, lighted up occasionally by lights outside the car. In the passing lights, Chen could make out that he was really angry.
