That evening, Yu Chen had an early dinner even before Xi Hua came back from work.
She then went into her room.
The girl who came out had on a white tank top, black denim mini-skirt with black leggings underneath, a leather jacket over the tank top, high black heels with straps, and various black necklaces and bracelets on. The girl looked like a complete badass as she surveyed herself in the mirror in the hall. "Don't be angry Xia okay? I'll be back safe. I just really need to blow off some steam." The girl muttered to herself stroking the butterfly clips she now wore at the back of her head.
Only with those clips anyone would recognise the badass girl as the playful Yu Chen who was so fond of over-sized clothes and comfortable shoes.
Yu Chen hurriedly scribbled a note to Xi Hua, saying:-
"Going out on an errand. Will be back late, don't wait up. Dinner in the fridge."
She put it on the table and went back to her room. Chen came out with a joker mask in her hand and walked out of the apartment.
Yu Chen, as she descended the stairs, saw a very tired Xi Hua coming up. She turned her head away and noticed Hua take no particular notice of her. Youngsters that dressed like this were not that uncommon after all.
After twenty minutes, Yu Chen stood in front of a huge structure that looked a stadium, though a little smaller than it. Chen put on the joker mask and went in. The inside was made just like a stadium, with seats for spectators all around. But instead of a ground, the centre circle consisted of a huge square stage in the middle with tiled surface. A DJ was positioned a little way off from the stage and rock music was blasting from speakers all round the stadium.
Yu Chen's appearance, which would have raised many eyebrows in the city, was quite usual here. Though the mask was not. Yu Chen took her place in a dark corner close enough to the stage so that she could observe the team dance battle that was going on. Chen enjoyed herself as she admired the dancers.
Very soon, the team dance battles ended as no team would come forward to battle one of them. Yu Chen tutted, "These guys are good. But we would have destroyed them."
She watched in fascination as the single dance battles started. After one particularly intense one, in which two boys of about 19 or 20 danced against each other, Yu Chen moved from her place. The muscular one of the two had admitted defeat and the lankier one was challenging anyone who dared to dance against him.
As Chen walked forward, she noticed that this lanky boy got quite the cheers, "Well he deserves it. He's good." Chen thought to herself.
The lanky boy was still challenging anyone who would face him and the crowd was still singing his praises when Yu Chen climbed on the stage. She was greeted with a lot of ooohhhhs and aaahhhs as she stood facing the boy. The boy pointed towards Chen, "You think you can stand against me? You? With your joker mask?"
Yu Chen giggled. Even she had to admit that the mask was a little over the top.
