Chapter 214: Nightmares
Yu Chen was going to meet Si Xia. It was their promised date.
Chen had dressed up in a knee length blue dress and put her shoulder length hair in a ponytail. She smiled at the mirror before heading out of the apartment.
Chen walked the familiar streets and reached the cafe, their spot. She was a bit early, so she decided to go in and wait.
Yu Chen went to their usual table, but there already was a couple sitting there and kissing.
"It would be impolite to disturb. And they look so in love." Yu Chen blushed a little as she turned around to go, but she found the back of the boy strangely familiar.
Who was it? As Yu Chen was wondering who it was, the couple broke apart and she saw the girl. Oh god noooo!!!!! It was Yuan Zuan!!!!!!
No No No NO NOOOO.
Please don't let the boy be...
The boy turned around and to Chen's horror, it was him! It really was him!!!!
Si Xia got up with one arm around Yuan Zuan's waist and said, "Oh look, it's Chen. Hey."
Yuan Also spoke, "Hi Chen. We're dating."
Si Xia showed his finger, "And also getting married."
Yuan Zuan rubbed her suddenly huge belly and said, "And we're going to have a baby. Aren't you happy Chen?"
Yu Chen stood dumbstruck as Si Xia wrapped his hands around Zuan's waist, kissed her and led her out of the cafe.
Yu Chen stood there with her hand outstretched, tears rolling down her cheeks and screaming Si Xia's name.
Yu Chen suddenly sat up, hand still outstretched, tears still streaming down her face and hoping that she really had not been screaming Xia's name.
It was the first week of December and snow had settled on her windowsill, but Yu Chen was drenched in sweat.
Yu Chen got out of bed, wiped her forehead on the back of her sleave and came out of her room. Chen picked up her mobile and saw the time, 5:00 a.m. She listened for any movement from Hua's room, she might have woken up by the commotion Yu Chen did not know if she had caused.
Yu Chen made herself a cup of hot chocolate and sat at the dining table. But she found herself looking longingly at the window, feeling suffocated inside. Yu Chen quietly went back to her room, pulled on a sweater and took another cardigan. She then took her shoes in her hand and tip-toed out of the apartment, locking it behind her.
As she could not think of anything else, Yu Chen went upto the roof, pulling on the cardigan and the shoes.
She cleared some space of snow and sat down. The sun had not risen yet but there was enough light. Staring at the grey sky, Yu Chen felt incredibly lonely. The dream along with some horrible memories came rushing back. As tears threatened to fall from her eyes, Yu Chen thought, "Oh, my life is so perfect now. Why can't I forget about those horrible memories?"
Even before she knew what she was doing, Yu Chen had whipped out her phone and sent a text to Si Xia, 'I miss you.'
Yu Chen saw that he read the text almost immediately but left it on seen. Yu Chen hugged her knees closer as tears fell from her eyes, fearing that her dream was really coming true.
