Chapter 150: Mo Anxia (2)
Anxia turned around and saw Mo Kio had stopped his bike just meters away from her, because she had never liked it.
Mo Kio said, "Wait Anxia, it's not safe here. Let's go home."
Mo Anxia said, "But I go out. I like to go out. You no take me out now."
Mo Kio started walking to which Anxia took a step back. Seeing this, he immediately asked her to stop and stopped himself. He said, "Yeah Anxia, I'm sorry. I have not been spending time with you. Kio is sorry, please forgive Kio."
By this point, Mo Anxia was standing on the very edge of the road. She said, "No Kio. You no love me anymore."
Mo Kio: "I love you Anxia, I love you very much."
Mo Anxia: "I want to go the cafe."
Mo Kio smiled and said, "Sure, Anxia. Let's go together sometime. Actually, let's just go now."
"Anxia, be careful!!! ANXIAAAA!!!!!"
Mo Anxia had stepped a little too back while talking and was hit by a fast moving car. Though the driver immediately stopped the car, but Anxia was still hit and thrown on the sidewalk. She landed just beside Kio, who stood there, staring at her face, mumbling, "No. This is not happening. It's all a dream. I'm dreaming!!!"
He started punching himself and yelling, "WAKE UP. COME ON!! WAKE UPPPP!!!!!"
He was stopped by the driver who had gotten out of his car and the Mo family, who had arrived on the scene.
Anxia was taken to the hospital immediately, and pushed into the ICU, but she had taken too much damage. Anxia died on the operating table.
Yu Chen was silent as Mo Kio finished his story. She did not even know how to react, but Mo Kio turned to look at Chen and continued, "Now that I've started, it's not that painful to continue."
Kio then told Chen how he had been in shock for around a week. It was like he had become a dead body, he just sat wherever people made him sit, eat whatever he was fed and did not even ask for water. He did not even attend Anxia's funeral. It had taken Kio a few weeks to recover from the shock, a few months to go back to school, go back to his life and a complete year had passed before he was able to visit Anxia's grave.
Yu Chen could not even imagine what Kio had been through. She was sure that she wouldn't be able to live if something happened to Mian. Chen hugged Kio as he said, "I always blamed myself for her death. I still do. But now I'm slowly beginning to let go. She'll not come back whatever I do. So I guess I'm gonna have to move forward, and keep her in my heart as I do."
He pulled out of Chen's embrace and said, "You know, that incident made me realise how fragile human life is. So that's why I make sure from now on to live each day to it's fullest. And cherish the people I care about."
