Chapter 146: Mian goes into shopping frenzy
Though Chen needed to shop, it so happened that she had to drag Mian out of every other shop. Chen was unbelievably tired by the time they were done. Despite all of her efforts to stop Mian from going in a frenzy, they still had six big bags full of clothes, shoes and other necessities.
As they came out of the shop, Chen massaged her shoulders and said, "Gosh I'm tired. I don't think I've shopped this much for myself in my whole life."
Mian: "It's still not enough sis. I wish you had let me buy that dress."
Chen: "Mian, we have to think about our budget too. I think I used up all that I had saved from my allowance."
Mian: "Loosen up sis. You're going to London after all."
Chen: "To study computers. Not to shop."
Mian had opened up her mouth to say something when Chen's phone buzzed. She looked at it. It was a message from Mo Kio.
He had said, 'Hey. I'm almost done. Where are you?'
Yu Chen: 'I'm heading home right now. Come there.'
Mo Kio: 'Great. See you in a bit.'
Mian saw her sister busy with the phone and tried to sneak a peek. When Chen looked at her and raised and eyebrow, she said, "Who are you talking to sis?"
Yu Chen did not like anyone prying into her messages. This was the reason she never checked anyone's messages and expected people to do the same.
Chen rolled her eyes and slid her phone back into her pocket. She said, "Let's go."
The two had reached home and Mian was looking at the clothes and admiring them, when Chen got a call. She was surprised to see Si Xia calling her.
She picked up the phone, "Hello?"
Si Xia's magnetic voice came from the other end, "Hello."
Yu Chen's heart immediately skipped a beat. This boy was able to make her heart race with just a hello. It was really too much.
Yu Chen: "Yeah."
Si Xia: "Umm....can we meet up?"
Yu Chen: "Why? Did something happen?"
Si Xia: "Not really....umm.... actually....I just....."
Yu Chen: "Will seven be okay?"
Si Xia: "Huh? Oh, seven. Time. Yeah. Perfect."
He was about to hang up when Chen stopped him, "Wait."
Si Xia: "Hmm?"
Yu Chen: "The place?"
Si Xia: "Oh right!! The place. Umm, how about Mrs. Zhu's dumplings?"
Yu Chen: "Perfect."
Si Xia: "Bye."
Yu Chen: "See you."
Si Xia hung up the phone and put a hand on his heart. "Come on, what's with you and all the racing? We basically hang out all the time. But you have to jump out whenever she talks or smiles at me. Calm down a bit." He scolded his heart.
Yu Chen, on the other hand, took a few deep breaths to calm herself when the bell rang. Mian's voice came from the bedroom, "Sis, someone's at the door."
Yu Chen yelled, "Yeah, I'm not deaf." as she went to the door and peeped through the door.
It was Mo Kio. She opened the door to Kio's grumpy face. He said, "Where the hell were you busy. I texted and even called you!!!"
