Chapter 143: A peaceful night
Huo Zenghai: "Yeah, I just finished dinner."
Yu Chen: "I sent you a code. Look over it, quickly."
Huo Zenghai: "Wow!!! Already?!?! You're the best, Chen!!!"
After the two boys had had a bird eye view of the code, Chen began to explain it to them.
She told them the purpose and functions of some tricky lines, explained how she had gone through thr algorithm, and even did some dry runs of the code with Kio and Zenghai.
After she was done explaining, Chen said, "Any questions?"
Mo Kio: "You're not our teacher you know."
Yu Chen: "Shut up and ask if you don't understand anything. I'm tired after all the travelling." "And the fright." She added inwardly, thinking about thr bike ride.
Mo Kio: "I think I got the gist. I'll go over it after dinner and call you if I don't understand something."
Yu Chen: "Sure. But if I don't pick up the call once, don't call agin. I'm really tired." And she let out a yawn.
Mo Kio chuckled, "Fine. Night Chen."
He was about to hang up when Mian peeped into the camera. All of Kio's intention of hanging up flew away as he said, "Hey Mian. What are you guys doing?"
Yu Mian: "Oh nothing much, sis and I just..."
Yu Chen cut in, "Wait a minute. Zenghai, you got it right?"
Huo Zenghai, who had been looking at his laptop, said, "Yeah. I think so. I'll look over the code once more after a shower and give it a test run."
Yu Chen nodded, "You do that. And ask me tomorrow if you have any doubts."
Huo Zenghai went back to staring at his laptop, "Yeah. Thanks Chen. You're great. Good night. Bye."
Yu Chen chuckled and said, "Don't stay up too late."
After Zenghai hing up, Yu Chen tossed her phone to Yu Mian. She got up and said, "Not much battery is left. Don't talk for too long. I'm gonna go and have a bath."
With this she left the room, leaving behind a very surprised Mian and Kio.
Chen soon came out of the bathroom, her face flushed, looking very refreshed and smelling of the lavender soap she used.
Chen saw Mian sitting on the couch typing away on her phone.
Yu Chen: "Where's my phone?"
Mian: "It almost ran out of battery, so I put it one charging."
Chen nodded and headed into the kitchen. She called out from inside, "Mian, you want anything to eat?"
Mian: "Of course not sis. We had an ice-cream and then those Mandarins."
Chen: "Yeah, but those can't be counted as dinner."
Mian: "We had dinner at the hospital."
Chen: "That was ages ago."
Mian: "I'm not eating anything, I gotta maintain my figure."
Chen rolled her eyes inside the kitchen and made herself a bowl of instant noodles. She came out with the steaming bowl in her hands and sat down beside Mian.
Then Chen picked up her phone and began to play a game on it, as she ate one bite and put one bite in Mian's mouth, who was texting someone with all her might.
Like this, the two sisters finished the whole bowl, Chen ate half and fed half to Mian. Then Chen drank some of the soup and slid the bowl to Mian.
Mian: *Still not looking up from her phone* "Sis, I told you I'm not eating it."
Chen: "It's just the soup. Your favourite."
That was when Mian looked up from her phone. She looked at the bowl and then at Chen, completely amazed.
