Chapter 139: Chen, the mother hen
Yu Chen gave her a puzzled look to which Hua rolled her eyes. She said, "My juice?"
Yu Chen: "Oh shit! Juice!!"
Hearing her, the others in the room realised that she was back to the normal Chen, and they all burst in laughter.
Yu Chen looked embarrassed as she scratched her head and sat down beside Huo Zenghai.
Huo Zenghai: "Thank god you're here Chen. Look at this, what am I supposed to do with this algorithm?" He said, almost close to tears.
Yu Chen laughed as she took his phone. She looked at it and frowned. Chen said, "I'm pretty sure this is not part of our school curriculum. Where did you come by it?"
Huo Zenghai scratched his head, "Actually, me and Kio participated in an online coding contest. That's where....."
Yu Chen turned to look at Mo Kio, who was sitting with his nose almost buried in a book.
She rolled her eyes, "I know you're not reading."
Mo Kio said, still not looking up from his book, "How do you know that? I am actually very focused on my book and have no idea what you guys are talking about."
Yu Chen: "Because you are holding the book upside-down."
Mo Kio was flustered and instantly looked at the book closely. Then he realised that he had actually been holding the book correct but had been played by Chen.
Yu Mian: "My sister's smart."
Xi Hua: "A little too smart."
Mo Kio sighed and put the book down. He said, "Fine, you win. At least tell us how that algorithm will be written."
Huo Zenghai swiped down on his phone which was in Chen's hand. He said, "And while you're at it, take a look at this one too. These two are the ones Kio couldn't solve."
Yu Chen: "What about you? How many did you solve?"
Huo Zenghai: "I'm not a genius like you guys, but my score was far above average. I did 7/10 and Kio did 8/10."
Yu Chen patted Zenghai like a child, "You did good. You're getting better."
Yu Mian: "....."
Xi Hua rolled her eyes.
Yu Chen sat and looked at Zenghai's phone. She said after two minutes, "I'm gonna need to look over them. How about this, you message me these two, and I'll have a look as soon as I get home."
Zenghai looked doubtful. So Chen persuaded him, "I'm gonna need around half-an-hour to solve these two. I'll send you the code and explain over the phone."
Zenghai was finally convinced and Kio also chimed in, "Me too. Put me on conference too."
Yu Chen stood up and patted his head as Kio gave a satisfied smile. She said, "Of course, you guys are getting better."
Yu Mian: "... Isn't my sister younger than him?"
Xi Hua: "She is the mother hen. Age doesn't matter." She said to Mian.
Hua then turned towards Yu Chen and said, "Let me take a look too."
Chen headed over to her with Zenghai's phone. Xi Hua looked at the phone and said, "Ahh, my head hurts. Take it away from me."
Mo Kio: "Did falling also reduce your IQ? It's not that difficult."
Xi Hua: "Yeah I know it's not difficult. I guess you are not even able to do the easy stuff."
Mo Kio raised his hands in defeat, "Fine. No damage to IQ."
