Chapter 136: Chen needs cheering up
Upon hearing this, Huo Zenghai and Mo Kio stood up. Then they, along with Xi Hua bowed and said.
Xi Hua: "We give you the title of the president of the 'not even your girlfriend doting' club."
Huo Zenghai: "You have surpassed all human limits and will soon become a dog."
Mo Kio: "I will personally make sure that Chen never gets her hand on anything harmful. Because you will fully support her with a doting smile even if she kills a person."
Hearing all this, Yu Mian also suddenly got up and bowed to him.
This scene left Si Xia speechless. "Aren't they all a little over the top?" He thought as Yu Chen rolled on the floor laughing.
The rest of the lunch/dinner was quite enjoyable. Yu Mian began opening up and everyone instantly liked her.
Yu Chen noticed Mo Kio looking at Mian more than once and thought to herself, "Maybe some of us even like Mian more than we are supposed to. Huh."
The three boys then sat down to do some homework and Mian and Hua began chatting as Yu Chen pulled out her laptop and opened it. Yu Chen was in her coding mode with no recollection of her surroundings when Mo Kio looked over her shoulder. He said, "Wow. This thing is ancient."
Yu Chen was startled. She jumped in her chair, "What? Huh? What are you doing?" She was perplexed seeing Mo Kio looking over her shoulder.
Mo Kio sighed as he straightened up and walked around to stand in front of her, his hands on his hips. He said, "I said this thing is ancient." He motioned at Chen's laptop.
Yu Chen saved the code she had written as she said, "Oh come on, it's not that old. The processor might be a little slow but it works just fine."
Huo Zenghai also looked up from his book, "How long have you been using that thing, Chen?" He asked.
"Stop making it sound like I picked it up from some trash bin." Chen said rolling her eyes.
Huo Zenghai: "It's not that. This laptop must really hamper your coding skills."
Yu Chen said nothing as she lowered her head and put the laptop back in her bag.
She looked up and changed the subject, "I'm so sleepy and my eyes hurt. I'm gonna go grab a coffee. Who else wants one?"
Xi Hua broke the tension that had settled in the room, "I would love one."
Yu Chen chuckled and said, "You can't have caffeine. I'll get you a juice."
When Chen was almost to the door, Si Xia stood up. He said, "I could really use a wall too."
Chen did not give much of a response and only nodded. With that, the two of them went out.
Inside the room, Huo Zenghai said in a small voice, "I think we upset her."
Xi Hua: "Guys really are brainless. You don't even think before speaking."
Yu Mian stood up. She said, "Maybe I should go check up on sis." But she was stopped by Hua. Hua said, "Leave it to Xia. She will be all right."
Mian unwillingly sat down and looked at Mo Kio. She said, "Young master Mo, why are you so quiet."
Mo Kio, who had been looking down looked up. He shook his head and flashed a smile, "Nothing. I'm sure Xia will cheer her up. Let's finish our work quickly. It's gonna be a hassle doing it without Chen's help."
