Chapter 112: Falling asleep under the open sky
They felt silent for a while. After some time, Si Xia broke the silence, "What kept you awake after such a long day?"
Yu Chen hesitated. She seemed to be contemplating something. Finally, she let out a sigh and said in a small voice, "Did you know Mo Kio has a sister?"
Si Xia was shocked. "Sister? A sibling from the same mother? Not a cousin?"
Yu Chen nodded, "A real sibling."
Si Xia ruffled his hair, "I don't think Kio has ever mentioned. How did you find ou?"
Yu Chen then narrated all that had happened before she came to say goodnight at Kio's room. After she was done, Si Xia also seemed to be in deep thought.
He said, "It's likely that something happened that the Mo family does not want to come out."
Yu Chen: "And it must have affected Kio very much, judging by aunty's reaction."
Si Xia: "Anyway, we must not talk to him about it. He will tell us whenever he is ready, if he wants to."
Yu Chen nodded and they both fell silent again. They both looked at the stars again and enjoyed each other's company.
After some time, Si Xia abruptly turned around. Yu Chen had begun to fall asleep, was jerked awake. She also turned to see Mo Kio coming across the garden towards them.
He came up and said, "Could not sleep?"
Yu Chen and Si Xia shook their heads.
Mo Kio: "So is this like a private blanket date or is there room for a third wheel?"
Si Xia let out a chuckle and Yu Chen opened her left arm, smiling.
Mo Kio got in the blanket, and the three snuggled close. They talked for some time before falling silent, looking at the stars.
Si Xia suddenly felt something on his shoulder and turned his head to look at Yu Chen, who had fallen asleep, with her head on his shoulder. Mo Kio also turned his head and looked at the pair. Chen, sleeping on Xia's shoulder, and Xia, looking at her as though she was his most prized possession.
Mo Kio felt that he should go and leave them alone, but was not able to do so.
After all that had happened to Hua, he could not bear to be alone. As soon as he was alone, the images of that day would start running in his mind.
Mo Kio looked up at the stars again, "Kiara, are you looking, this idiot girl is just like you. And I love you both very much." he thought in his mind as he turned his head to look at Chen again.
A smile formed on his lips. Si Xia had also fallen asleep, his head resting on top of Chen's head.
Mo Kio smiled, snuggled closer to the two, and closed his eyes with a smile on his lips.
The three kids felt safe in each other's company, and this was exactly what they needed. They all slept, hoping that Hua and Zenghai would get well really soon.
Around six in the morning, the gardener was working in the back garden. He was picking some beautiful flowers and handing them to the maid beside him.
Suddenly, the maid poked him and pointed towards a fairly hidden bench in a corner.
