Chapter 108: Generous Mo family
Kio nodded while Si Xia said, "Sir, could you please also drop Chen off to her apartment?"
Mr. Mo turned to look at Si Xia. He asked, "What about you?"
Si Xia: "I'll probably call a cab."
Mr. Mo: "You're coming with us."
Si Xia: "I wouldn't want to intrude sir. Besides, my hostel is in a completely different direction from your house."
Mr. Mo: "Maybe I wasn't clear. Let me rephrase that. You both kids are coming to our house to spend the night. We are not going to let you kids spend the night alone after what you have been through."
Si Xia: "It's really okay, sir. I don't mind."
Mrs. Mo suddenly appeared from behind him and said, "But we do. You're coming with us." saying this she put her arm in Yu Chen's arm and led her towards the door, nodding towards Zenghai's parents, who nodded back.
Yu Chen: "....."
Mr. Mo turned to look at the two boys. He uttered a single word before heading towards the door, "Come."
Si Xia: "....."
Mo Kio: "Come on, let's just go. They won't listen to anyone now."
Si Xia: "....." He followed Mo Kio out the door, saying goodbye to Mr. And Mrs. Huo, who smiled. And looking in Zenghai's direction, who had fallen asleep.
As they came out of the hospital, Xia and Kio saw his father's car parked outside the entrance and Chen and Mrs. Mo getting in the car.
The two boys also got in. They both got in the back seat from opposite sides, the result being, that they were both seated towards the windows, with Chen in the middle.
During the ride, Mr. Mo rarely said anything, but Mrs. Mo kept on rambling on, occasionally getting a response from Kio or Xia.
Si Xia leaned closer to Yu Chen and whispered in her ear, "You've been awfully quiet this whole time. Is something wrong?"
Mo Kio had also catched his words and looked at Chen with worry. Chen shook her head and leaned back, so that the boys could hear and Mr. and Mrs. Mo could not. She said, her voice a whisper, "I'm okay. I was just thinking about something. It doesn't quite fit."
Mo Kio: "What?"
As Chen opened her mouth to answer, Mrs. Mo turned around. She said with a motherly look on her face, "Hey kids, are you hungry? How about a midnight snack?"
Yu Chen was surprised and looked at her watch. It really was only half an hour to midnight.
Mo Kio: "Thanks mom, but I don't feel like eating."
Yu Chen: "We had dinner at the party before....."
Chen's voice trailed off and Xia held her hand in a reassuring manner.
The rest of the ride was silent. When they finally reached the Mo mansion, the two boys were eager to know what Chen was talking about in the car. But they never got the chance.
Mrs. Mo came up to Chen and said, "Let's go and find you something to sleep in. I'm afraid I was not able to prepare any clothes for you."
Yu Chen: "Don't bother aunty. It's already really nice of you to bring us here."
Mrs. Mo: "Nonsense."
Then she began to walk with Chen towards the stairs.
