After the three left Hua's room, they headed towards the room where Zenghai was admitted.
Just outside the door, they found two police officers arguing with their teacher and Mr. and Mrs. Mo.
They got a little closer and listened. Mr. Mo was saying, "Two of them are still unconscious, and the other three are in no position to give any statements."
Mr. Zhen: "I completely agree. The kids are in shock. You can take their statements tomorrow."
Mr. Mo: "I'll personally bring them to the police station."
The two officers sighed. They seemed to have a great deal of respect for Mr. Mo. They said, "Okay, fine." One of them turned to professor Zhen, "I assume you have no problem with giving your statement."
Mr. Zhen shook his head. Before he left with the officers, Mr. Mo held his shoulder and said, "Thank you sir. For all you did. I now suggest that you also go home after giving your statement. We will take care of the kids."
Mr. Zhen nodded and left.
Mrs. Mo's eyes fell on the three kids standing in the corridor. She hurried upto them and asked, "How's Hua doing?"
Kio explained her condition. After listening, Mr. Mo said, "It's good that her life is not in danger. Leg operations are not life threatening."
Yu Chen: "Did Zenghai wake up while we were gone?"
Mrs. Mo: "Not till the time we were inside. Let's go in."
As the five of them entered the semi-private room, they saw Huo Zenghai lying on his bed with his eyes open. He seemed to be eagerly waiting for them.
Chen ran up to him and hugged him lightly. She said, "Don't scare us like that."
Huo Zenghai weakly smiled and asked, "How's Hua?"
Chen stopped hugging him and said, "It's not all bad. She's basically fine. The doctor even said she was lucky."
Huo Zenghai: "What does that mean?"
Si Xia explained everything the doctor had said and added how Hua was out of danger.
Zenghai let out a sigh of relief. Mrs. Huo covered him with a comforter and said, "Now go to sleep Zenghai. We will take you to see her tomorrow."
Huo Zenghai nodded and closed his eyes.
Yu Chen whispered to Kio, "He seemed to have calmed down quite a bit."
Mrs. Huo gestured them to follow her. She led them towards the bed Kio was on before and said in a low voice, "He has not calmed down. After he woke up, he was determined to see Xi Hua. We tried to stop him, but he didn't listen. It was not until he tried to stand up and could not do so that he unwillingly consented to see her tomorrow."
Yu Chen looked at Huo Zenghai in surprise. He wasn't usually the stubborn type. She asked Mrs. Huo, "Did the doctors say when he could be discharged?"
Mrs. Huo: "They will be keeping him here tonight to monitor his condition. He will most likely be discharged tomorrow."
The three nodded and Mrs. Huo continued, "You kids should go home. Both Xi Hua and Zenghai have their parents here. You kids also need rest."
Just as she had finished her sentence, Mr. Mo came up to them. "Ready to go?" he asked.
