Chapter 97: The party (2)
Chen said, "Was some celebrity invited to the party?"
Kio: "I'm willing to bet my laptop that's Xia in the middle."
Huo Zenghai: "That's highly probable."
Xi Hua: "...."
Yu Chen: "..."
Then, the group of girls seemed to part as whoever was in the middle began walking towards them. Kio whistled again, "The suit suits him more than me."
Chen was looking at the person walking towards them. It was indeed Si Xia. He was wearing a black coat-pant with a white shirt and black tie. His usually messy hair were slicked back. Yu Chen was dumbfounded. The current Si Xia looked like a king. Though his look was quite similar to the party Yu Chen had gone to before she jumped back in time, but something was different. The Si Xia five years later looked like a king of solitude. He had everything, a successful company, a great wife and a child on the way, but he looked sad deep inside.
The Si Xia right now, no doubt looked like a king, but not a king of solitude. A king who loved his subjects and would watch over them kindly. This Xia in front of Chen looked happy, his deep black eyes seemed to be twinkling, and there was a faint smile on his lips. As Chen was in a trance, Si Xia had come up to her.
Si Xia had approached quite late to the party. As he entered, the hall went quite. He sighed, he had actually expected this. If the girls at school flocked around him when he was wearing a cheap uniform, Si Xia shuddered to think what would happen when he was wearing an expensive suit of Mo Kio. Xia quickly glanced around the room and his eyes filled with disappointment. "She's not here yet." he thought. Then, before he had a chance to do anything else, Xia was surrounded by girls.
Among the attempts of conversation, he heard bits like...."Oh Xia you look so good."
....."Will you dance with me?"
..."What's your number?"
..."Would you like to have a drink?"
But Si Xia did not respond to any of them. His eyes were searching for a certain someone, and he soon found her.
Chen had just entered the hall with Hua, Zenghai and Kio. She was standing with Mo Kio who seemed to have spoken something, because he could clearly see an astonished look in Chen's eyes. Xia began walking towards her.
He noticed how beautiful she looked tonight. In that white and black dress, Yu Chen looked like a story. She looked like a mix of an angel and a demon, which rather suited her, Xia thought. He saw her beautiful dark brown hair, which were left open except some in the front. Her mesmerising green eyes, which were directly looking at him, seemed to be in a daze. Then Si Xia's eyes travelled down from her face and towards her shoulders, which were exposed due to the dress. His eyes scanned her collarbones and Xia felt his mouth getting dry. He gulped, even though he was not chewing anything. Xia really wanted to kiss Chen then and there, but he controlled his urge as he approached her.
