Chapter 80: My family is the best
Mr. Yu: "Chen, is it a safe place for a little girl like you to go alone?"
Mrs. Yu: "Of course it isn't. I'm not letting my little girl go so far away from me."
Yu Mian: "Oh come on mom, dad. This is once in a lifetime opportunity for sis, you can't expect her to just throw it away because it's in another country."
Mr. Yu: "Mian, it's not just about another country. She won't know anyone there."
Yu Chen: "I didn't know anyone when I first moved out here."
Mrs. Yu: "No. I'm not sending my little girl where I cannot reach her."
Yu Mian: "Yeah. Just hide her under your shadow always. Don't let her shine."
Mr. Yu: "Don't talk like this to your mother Mian. Chen, what about you? Do you really want to go?"
Yu Chen: "Yeah dad, I do. But I could never force anything on you guys. You've given me such a wonderful life and childhood, I'll never do anything that makes you guys unhappy. So..."
Yu Mian: "So your goody two shoes daughter is not going. Throwing away a once in a lifetime opportunity. Hmmff."
Mr. Yu: "Chen, you're gonna have to promise me something."
Yu Chen: "Dad I'm not going to run off to London."
Mr. Yu laughed, "It's not that. Promise me. However busy you'll get, call your mother at least once a day."
Yu Chen: "Dad, I'm never gonna get so busy."
Mr. Yu: "You might. In London."
Yu Chen: "You're- you're saying....."
Yu Mian: "Yes. My sister's going to London!!!! London baby."
Mrs. Yu stuffed the phone in Mian's hand and stood up, "No she's not."
Chen and Mian looked at their father. Mr. Yu stayed silent until Mrs. Yu was out of earshot and said, "She's just worried Chen. I'm sure she will come around. Just come back for a day or two, and till then, I'll be doing my best to convince her."
Yu Chen smiled, "Dad, you're the best."
Mian jumped up and down, "What about me, sis? What about me?"
Yu Chen let out a laugh, "You're the best too Mian. You're the best sister anyone could ask for." Yu Mian seemed to be satisfied as she blew a kiss. Mr. Yu smiled and said, "Now Chen, you've had a long day today. Go to sleep, and don't worry about a thing." Chen nodded and said goodbye to them. Aftee that she said, "Say love you to mom for me, both of you. Will you?" they nodded and Chen cut the call. She looked at the time, "10:30. It's probably too lat to call Xia now. Isn't it?"
Just as she thought, a message popped up, 'Xia: Kio told me everything. Don't worry about a thing. Sleep now. We'll talk tomorrow."
Yu Chen smiled upon seeing the message. Her heart was at ease now and she lay on the bed after changing.
As she closed her eyes, Chen thought, "I can't believe it was only yesterday that I was warning Zuan, And Xia left only yesterday. I miss him like crazy." With these thoughts, Chen fell asleep.
It had really been a long day.
