Chapter 79: Getting permission
As they went up to him, Huo Zenghai also came out. "Let's go." he said. They all climbed into the car and Kio started driving.
Xi Hua whispered in Chen's ear, "What's the story of the flower?"
Yu Chen whispered back, "It reminded me of Mian. And he was about to throw it off the roof." Xi Hua nodded and Huo Zenghai looked back, "What are you girls whispering about?"
Xi Hua: "Oh we were just talking about aunt flo. When is yours coming?"
Chen and Kio burst out laughing as Zenghai's face went red. He turned and sat up straight and did not say another word until Mo Kio had dropped him off.
After Zenghai, Kio dropped off Hua and then Chen.
As Yu Chen entered her apartment, she had a strong urge to call Si Xia. She took out her phone and stared at it. "He is probably busy. And Chen, this time you decided not to love for him." thinking this she scrolled down her contact list and video called her mother.
Her mother did not pick up. "Wonder what she is doing?" thinking this she called Mian.
Mian picked up on the second ring. Her cheerful face came into view. "Hey sis!!!"
Yu Chen flew her a kiss, which Mian pretended to catch.
Yu Chen: "What's mom doing?"
Yu Mian: "She was in the kitchen. Right now..... she is playing with her phone." sah said, stretching her head to look in the living room.
Just then, her mother's voice sounded, "Mian, I'm trying to call Chen. She's not picking up."
Yu Mian massaged her head, "Sometime I wonder how was she able to give birth to a technology genius like you." Mian turned her phone towards her mother and Chen saw her tapping her phone furiously.
She let out a laugh and said, "Give her your phone, before she burns down her's."
Mian also laughed and went to Mrs. Yu, "Mom, here. When you didn't pick up, Chen called my phone." Mrs. Yu threw aside her phone and excitedly took Mian's phone, "How are you Chen? Did you have dinner? Are you doing okay? When are you coming to visit?" she asked without stopping.
"Mom. Come on." Yu Mian bagged her.
Mrs. Yu: "What? I'm worried about her."
Yu Chen: "I'm fine mom. I had dinner. Yup, I'm doing the best I could. And Soon."
Mrs. Yu smiled and said, "Your competition was today right? How did it go?"
Yu Chen: "Yeah I called to tell you about it. But before that, where is dad?"
Yu Mian: "He's at the office. Should probably be home any minute." Just as Yu Mian finished her sentence, the door sounded.
Mrs. Yu: "Oh he's home."
Yu Chen: "Call him here, I want to tell you all everything."
As soon as her dad came to the phone, Yu Chen began. She told them all about everything. How they had not won the competition, but she was offered the scholarship by the son of Mao enterprises and how she accepted.
As soon as she finished, Yu Mian spoke, "That's amazing sis, now you can chase your dream."
Yu Chen looked at ther mom and dad, "Mom, dad, what do you guys think?"
