Chapter 50: Sleepless night
At night, Yu Chen set an alarm for early morning and went to sleep. Well she tried to, but all wierd thoughts kept running in her head. She finally dosed off to sleep when dawn had broken and dreamt that she got up so late that her team was disqualified from the competition. Yu Chen woke up with a start, sweating all over and panting.
She looked at the clock on her bedside and sighed. It was only half past five. It was a really scary dream. Yu Chen went to the balcony and stood there for a little while with her eyes closed. There was a gentle breeze blowing and the sky was a beautiful shade of red and orange. She opened her eyes when she had calmed down a little and enjoyed the scenery for a bit. It was all so quite, there were rarely any people an the street and and it looked like the whole world except her was asleep.
Yu Chen went in and came back with her phone. She really wanted to talk to somebody to calm her nerves, but who could she disturb at this hour? She looked at the phone for some time and was just about to keep it down when it suddenly buzzed. She looked at it in surprise and saw that there was a message from Si Xia.
Si Xia: 'Can't sleep?'
Yu Chen was alarmed. Had he placed cameras in her house or had people watching her? She looked around but saw no one.
Suspiciously, she replied, 'Not really. How do you know?'
Si Xia immediately replied, 'My heart told me. It's connected to yours.'
Yu Chen laughed aloud, 'Wierd.'
Si Xia: 'Don't worry about the competition, you will do really good.'
Yu Chen: 'I'm not worrying about it.'
Si Xia: 'Really? Then why are you awake at five thirty in the morning? Missing me, maybe?'
Yu Chen: 'You're crazy.'
Si Xia: 'Am I now?'
Yu Chen scoffed and put down her phone. This boy was seriously going crazy. She got up and thought of going for a walk. It was a cold morning so she wore a cap with rabbit ears and pulled on a coat. As she was locking the door to her apartment, her phone rang. She looked at the caller ID and her face broke into a smile like the morning sun that was rising. She instantly picked it up, and was about to speak before she checked herself and said, "What do you want?"
Si Xia: "You can try all you want. Your voice betrays how happy you are that I called."
Yu Chen: "Oh shut up. Anyway, why aren't you asleep?"
Si Xia: "Worried about me? Huh. Nice."
Yu Chen: "Okay, that's enough. Bye."
Si Xia: "Wai-wai-wai-wait WAIIITTTT!! Don't hang up. I could not sleep."
Yu Chen: "Why?"
Si Xia: "I was worried about you."
Yu Chen blushed so deeply and was aware of the heat her face was radiating that she she was happy he could not see her.
"Why? Why does he have to be so charming this time? Why can't he be like what he was previously?" she thought rubbing her temples.
"Chen? You there?" his voice came from the phone.
