Chapter 31: The computer room
She did not had to wait long. Soon she saw a very excited looking Mo Kio running downstairs and a man coming after him telling him to calm down.
Mo Kio ran to Yu Chen shouting, "He agreed. He agreed to let us use the main computer room!!"
Yu Chen stood up and looked at the man, "Good afternoon, Mr. Mo." she said. "Good afternoon dear. I see you are a really sweet girl, I hope you can also teach some manners to this idiot of mine." Mr. Mo said, looking at Mo Kio.
"Hey, you can't blame me, you never let me work in the main room alone." Mo Kio pouted.
Mr. Mo suddenly looked stern, "And not even today. You both can look over the code there, but I will be a there to make sure you don't break anything there." he said.
Mo Kio did not seem to listen as he dragged Yu Chen into the basement. Then they went into the biggest room there and as she entered, Yu Chen's jaws hit the floor. It was literally paradise for every programmer. It had top notch computers complete with hardwares to support high speed and accuracy programming. As per her habit, she started mumbling facts about the different computers as she went around. But as she reached the one in the centre of the room, she stopped. She did not seem to be able to recognise this one. Was it a custom made? No, not possible. She even knew all the custom made computers that had come out for sale. Then was it a one which had been personally made for Mr. Mo. As she was looking over it, Mo Kio came, "I see you have noticed my father's pride."
Yu Chen: "Yeah. But I don't recognise the model."
"That's because I assembled it personally." Mr. Mo had come into the room now and was walking towards them.
"You assembled it!?!??" Yu Chen was shocked. "Of course, don't you sometimes feel as though the usual ones are too slow and are not able to handle your programming speed." he asked.
"Of course I do. But I am not really great with hardware. Although I do know a little about computers, I could never assemble one." she mumbled.
Mr. Mo smiled and patted her head, "Don't worry about it. No one can be the best at everything. Now why don't you kids go along to look over the code Kio mentioned, while I work here."
Mo Kio nodded and les Chen to a table a little further from his father's computer. He pointed to the computer there and said, "This one is my favourite. After my father's of course. But he would never let me touch that one."
Yu Chen looked at the computer with admiration and ran her hands softly over the keyboard and mouse, she murmured, " The Raspberry Pi 4. With ARMv8 processor and 1.4 GB RAM." "That's right." Mo Kio nodded with pride. Then he continued on to say, "Let's quickly go over all my mistakes, so that we can leave by 6:30."
So Yu Chen started going through all of Mo Kio's mistakes one by one. She explained to him what was wrong in the way he had written, what and why should be the correct version.
