Chapter 9: I don't love you anymore
After introducing Yu Chen and Si Xia, the finance manager left. Just as Si Xia started saying, " Chi Chi...."
Yu Chen suddenly cut him off, "Good evening, Mr. Si. I hope you are enjoying the party."
Si Xia was heart broken to see her talking to him like that. But he forced out through the lump in his throat, "Yes. It is quite a nice party. I especially like the decorations. Was it you who did it?"
But Yu Chen could not answer. All she could do was excuse herself and run towards the washrooms before bursting into tears.
'Chi Chi'. Yes. That was the name he had given to her. They had grown so close that they had given each other nick-names. His was Xi Xi. And they both would never let anyone else call their nick-names. It was something special, something only between them. But hearing that name now, she could not stop her tears.
Just then, she heard someone come in. Yu Chen quickly started washing her face in the sink so over which she was bent crying and hoped that the person would not notice her crying. But the person came to her and hugged her. She was shocked as she felt the familiar scent, the scent that she loved so much, and hear his voice breaking. "C-chi Chi, I-I miss-ssed you."
Yu Chen felt something warm spread through her heart and she was about to break into tears of joy when she remembered that this man was married, and to Yuan Zuan, no less.
She pushed him away and said, her voice breaking, "Why?"
"Because you were the only one who ever understood me, you did not see Si Xia, but you saw Xi Xi." said Si Xia, regaining his composure.
Yu Chen: "Yes. The second biggest mistake of my life, talking to you that day. You might not know it, but falling in love with you still remains the first."
Si Xia: "I know. I have always known...." Before he could say anything else, Yu Chen burst out, "WHAT? You knew? All along you knew?"
Si Xia cut her off, "Yes. And I also know that Zuan stole that program from you a day before the competition. Give me any kind of punishment you like."
But Yu Chen was silent for a long time before she started laughing. "Oh my god! You knew everything!!! Of course you knew. That's why you married Yuan Zuan, you both are perfect for each other. Oh my god. I kept forgiving you over and over again for the past few years and you.... you," she said pointing her finger at him, "you knew."
Yu Chen raised her hand as Si Xia started saying something. "No. Don't. Don't say anything. You know what actually, I am happy. Yes, I am really happy. All this time I thought you were suffering, with someone like Zuan. But I'm glad you are happy, and glad that I don't have to keep forgiving you anymore."
Si Xia wanted to say anything but Yu Chen had already turned to leave.
She stopped at the door and said, "You know everything, right Si Xia. But do you know this? I don't love you anymore. And I wish I had never fallen in love with you." Her voice cracked and she ran away.
