Chapter 7: The fateful meeting
As Yu Chen and Xi Hua were chatting, they saw a dark brown Ferrari coming into the parking lot. "There they are!! Finally. The VIPs arrive. I mean back in school, who would have thought that the pretentious bi*ch Yuan Zuan and the aloof king, Si Xia would be such VIPs that we would be bowing to them one day." said Xi Hua.
"Shhh, keep your voice down, someone will hear us. Now behave, here they come." said Yu Chen as Si Xia and Si Zuan came hand in hand up the stairs. She looked at him. Yes, he still completely looked the same even after five years. The same light brown hair, now brushed back instead of messy, which gave his king like aura the final touch it needed. And those dark black eyes, almost like infinity, in which she could drown anytime. He glanced at her and then stopped, Yu Chen's heart skipped a beat, but all he did was look at Si Zuan and smile, shake his head and start walking again. As he came up, their eyes met. But she could not look into those eyes, if she did, she would tear up instantly. So she looked away and started looking at her feet.
Meanwhile.
As Si Xia was walking up the stairs, his eyes fell on the two women standing to welcome them. His heart stopped as he looked at her and eyes shone like thousand stars shine in the night sky. His legs stopped. But then his trance was broken, as his wife tucked at his hand. He looked at her, forced out a smile, and started walking again. Then he again looked at her properly.
It seemed like she had grown more beautiful during the past five years. Her face was still a little plump and child-like, but her mesmerising green eyes, which looked as leaves covered with morning due and shining in the morning sun, had more maturity in them. Her hair was tied back and she wore a blue long sleeved dress which looked like she had wrapped a flowing river on her body. She wore almost no make-up but still looked like a complete angel that had come down to the heavens to take him with her. It was at this moment that their eyes met. But it was for a split second and then she started looking down.
"Yes. She hates me so much that she cannot even look at me. Well I deserve it." thought Si Xia as he and Si Zuan reached reached the entrance.
Yu Chen and Xi Hua greeted them, "Welcome, Mr. and Mrs. Si. We hope that you will enjoy the party, and congratulations on the pregnancy."
It was so mechanical that it almost sounded like two robots were greeting them. But it did not seem to affect Si Zuan at all as she dropped Si Xia arm, grabbed and hugged Yu Chen. "Oh Chen, how I missed you. You did not attend the wedding and have not contacted me for five years. How could you do this to your best friend."
After this, the four of them went inside.
