Chapter 17: CHAPTER 17: GRADUATION

ZANDER

I was on the phone talking to my dad and the last call was from my sister. My mother called me from downstairs to hurry up.

Shaking my head, knowing my mother was the one more excited than I am. Looking at the mirror for final view.

"Oh, my handsome boy." She said as soon as I was in the living room. "Okay just stand there at the foot of the stairs for your solo picture."

I wanted to say No that we are going to be late but I did not argue. Instead, I let her be to her happiness. I did as she says then pose.

"Oh God, I can't believe this is happening." She was sniffing. "You are too fast to grow."

"Come on, Mom. Do not be such a drama queen." I said with a joke. "I love you." Walking towards her, giving her a tight hug.

"I love you too and your sister also. You both are my greatest treasures." She smiled, caressing my face. "Okay, let's take a picture just the two of us. You are going to be busy later."

"I'm sure that's the case." I grinned.

"I think we should stand in the middle of our living room." Pointing where I should be standing.

She put the digital camera to the tripod then set it to a timer so that we have picture together. I smiled, how my mom treasure us as her children. "Okay, I set it already. Just smile."

This is it. The day of High school graduation.

ZANDER STEWART

When they called my name I climbed to the stage, getting my diploma. Shane and my friends were screaming as I received it. I smiled brightly at them. I am officially high school graduate student. College is the next step.

It was that fast pace these few months and here I am now. Receiving it was my achieve and part of my new beginning in life.

I am happy and proud that this special year for me was the best. No regrets, no surrender. This is just the beginning I have to step forward.

Until everyone finish called up to the last name.

Picture taking always part of graduation. Shane and our friends had one of so many. My mother cried slightly after I handed her my achievement.

I saw Shay too, seeing her proudly eyes at me. "Congratulation Finn. You did a great job." She was showing me her sweet smile. We had picture together then with Shane as well. She was genuinely happy seeing me passed this stage. How I wish I could hug her in the open. She is half part of my high school life.

"Thank you, sweet pea." Whispering to her ear. She blushed. She did not expect that to happen. Her eyes were roaming around if they saw it. Well, it doesn't matter to me now. I smirked.

My mother, Shane's parents together with Shay left us after our little celebration in the restaurant. They knew we have to spend time with our friends. There is also a celebration for the graduates to enjoy.

The party was hosted with one of the riches students in our town. All the senior students were all there even our teachers. We were at the party enjoying our high school graduation party celebration for the last time being senior high school.

It was getting late and everyone seems happy. I was making out with one of the seniors that night. My friends were the same as me too. It was just a front act anyway.

Shane approached me, "Hey, I am going to ditch. Talk to you soon." He said smiling at me with one of the cheerleaders in his arms.

"Okay, buddy, do not forget your protection." I said, laughing then he thumbs-up sign before they disappear.

As soon as Shane left, I waited for five minutes before I scan our other friends. "Hey, you want to go somewhere with me," She said, inviting me. The one I was making out in the party.

Scanning my surrounding before answering her. After knowing that my friends were not in sight. I looked back at her, God, I do not know what her name is but I know she was my schoolmate.

"No, I think I will pass and I have to go. Thanks, by the way." I said and stood up then left.

I even heard her say, "You've got to be kidding me." I did not look back even just for a glimpse. She is important to me.

I walked to the parking lot, where my car was park. I quickly turned the engine and drove home. My mother is on duty when I almost parked my car in our garage.

However, I changed my mind. I took out my handy phone and texted Shay but then I changed my mind again I called her.

Few rings and she answered. "Hello"

"Hey, what are you doing sweet pea?" I asked.

"Nothing much just watching movie then go to sleep later." I checked the clock. It was still not late. We still have a few hours to spend it together. I was tapping my fingers in the steering wheel.

"Sweet Pea, would you like to go with me somewhere? I want to spend the night with you alone just somewhere but it is not far." I asked nervously.

"Now?" she asked.

"Yes now, we will return before your parents come home."

She keeps quiet for a while. "Okay, just give me ten minutes and I will be ready then." She replied and I was overwhelmed.

"Okay then, I will meet you in front of your house." I said and the line was dead. I walked down the driver's seat. I went inside the house to get something before I go to fetch Shay in their house.

It might be our last time together so I should treasure the time we have.

Grabbing my two new blankets, one pillow and some bottled water, juice then snacks. Quickly carried it back to my car. I was thinking Shay was waiting for me already.
