Chapter 3: What was that?

'¿Space pirates? Nah' Rie thought, although it was strange for her, maybe she wrote that line as a memo and didn't remember about it. But she didn't think being assaulted by space pirates was as interesting as being attacked by Empire forces, so for now, she discarded the idea without making a change in her story.

"Maybe later"

She wrote that under the phrase and left the comments at the end of the text as a reminder of possible future mishaps for the protagonist. Then she continued her tale.

It was the beginning of the survival on a desolate planet with hostile forces lurking around!

The last time, she left the story at the start of a discussion among the survivors. The man in military uniform revealed he was a soldier of the humane forces and he and the crewman calmed the common folk and took the lead of the group. They started to discuss how to get out and survive in the unknown atmosphere of the planet. The capsule had 20 atmosphere adapters in it, but there were 25 people. And still, they will make-do for the time being, but thew wouldn't last long. And bla bla bla and Rie's blocked.

She didn't know how to continue her story. Or more importantly, how to introduce the protagonist. She still needed a name, and she didn't know how to postpone it further. Not that she thinks she could do that even if she knew how. Readers will burn her alive if she does so, or so she would if she was one.

All in all, Rie lost the time in thinking and was getting sleepy. She didn't feel the time because the planet didn't have the same rotation as the colony she came from but the clock in the corner of the hologram screen marked it was around 13.00... Well she didn't know if she didn't sleep 'last night' or if she woke up early. She completely and utterly lost her track of time, to be fair, she never really was good at that.

So she called it a day and was going to turn off the text editor to go sleep a long nap. But while saving the progress she noticed something at the end of the text. There was a new phrase.

"[Indeed, they'll come to claim their spoil.]"

She frowned and read it again.

- What the hell... - Rie murmured silently. She may be drowsy but she was sure she didn't write it this time.

"[The Empire didn't attack the ship. Space pirates attacked them.]

Maybe later

[Indeed, they'll arrive later to claim their spoil.]"

She stood petrified for a few minutes before starting writing with fury, her fingers going through the holographic keyboard.

"WHO ARE YOU!? Why is someone hacking into my novel!? "

She didn't wait for an answer, she wrote it in an impulse of anger. But as if to make her angrier, letters started to appear one after another.

"[So it's not a human report diary. That explains why there were discrepancies with the collected data. Then, is all written here fiction?]"

She was perplexed. Why on the galaxy did someone meddles with her work when she was in the middle of nowhere!?

"Of course it's fiction! WHO are you and WHY are you snooping here!?"

She swore if the other end didn't give an appropriate reply she was going to cut them into small pieces. Then arrived the answer and she explodes.

"[We have no obligation to disclose our information. We have no need for fiction.]"

And then, the 'dialogue' was erased.

- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHH - A scream of fury resonated in the cubic tent and all in there shifted they gaze to the madwoman who was going across her holographic app with her head once and again.

- I knew it. Finally, someone snapped... - Someone said.

- Lei, my dear, don't go there! - The mother of the stormy little girl grabbed her by her pinky fluffy dress and stopped her approach. - But mom, it seems fun! - She reproached.

- Ma'am are ya alrighty? - A green-haired man in a greyish crew uniform went over to ask, it was John being pushed by Rita.

- Ah... - And That was the moment Rie knew she was making a scene. - I'm fine. I just need SWi-Fi. - She made an excuse and John smiled. - Ah, yeah I know. It's anxiety 'bout da lack of Intenet ya? Young p'ple these days. Just keep it cool. I say, we'll be home in no t'me! And you'll have all da Wi-Fi yo want. - Said the man in his early twenties, visibly a couple of years younger than our protagonist in her middle twenties.

- Ja ja, yeah. - Rie laughed awkwardly. - I think I just need a little sleep. -

- 'll righty. Just g've a call if u need somet'ng. We'll be here ya know? Have a n'ce nap! - Said the crewman with a worried look before taking her partner to return to their post near the entrance of the tent.

- Internet abstinence may be scary... - Muttered Rita when they were away.

- U said it pal. - Answered John, shrugging.

Why, just WHY did I made a character speak with slangs when I don't know how to use them!? Why do I do this to me!?

Have a nice read! Hope you enjoy it!
