Chapter 47: Chapter Forty Two - Commander Joseph
"What is this about?!" Fiona shouted back towards the man.
Noah observed both of the Dragon Troopers, they both wore a black cloak that covered up their armour and was at least both close to 1.7 metres tall [5" 7]. The dragons that they were on had armour covering their chests. A type of steel looking metal.
"New orders from the generals to maintain order." The second Dragon Trooper answered back in a heartbeat. Pulling off a spear from their backs, they started aiming their weapons at the two. "Now you have 3 seconds to tell us your, name, rank and the reason for your visit."
Noah could feel the magic particles in the air vibrating slowly being used by the two opposing dragon riders had started to take them into themselves. Their dragons roaring in unrest and flexing their claws.
... "Captain Rachel Fo'Lan. Returning from Bernard wall on orders from General Sil."
The two riders opposite them looked at them at each other, before lowering their weapons and grabbing a hold of their saddle reins. "Where is your proof that General Sin gave you the order."
While they questioned Fiona or Rachel, Noah backed away from her in the saddle confused at what she had just done but knowing that he should just go along with it for the time being. Letting his hand lay on his sword.
"I am Captain Rachel. I report directly to Commander Joseph or General Sil! Now either let us go and report to her or escort us into the Keep." Threating the two, her hands gripped the saddle hard enough for her knuckles to turn white.
"Fine, we will escort you to the Captains entrance and take you to Commander Joseph where he can decide if you are who you say you are." The one who had done all the talking started to fly up first while the other followed Uni after he had started flying up.
Leaning closer to 'Captain Rachel' Noah whispered into her ear. "Are you really Captain Rachel?" His hand was still laying over the handle of his sword's handle.
"No, I am still Rachel. I just don't trust them. They were so quick to turn to try and fight us. I don't even know why they started this there has never been such tight security around the Keep."
They continued the quick flight in silence within just 5 minutes reaching the captain's entrance, Noah recognised it from the time he had left with Sir Isan. Landing in the bay there was another four dragons laying there and resting.
When they landed Noah noticed the difference in height between Uni and the dragon's in the room, even the escort dragon's were all slightly bigger than him. He wouldn't have fared well if they had been attacked.
Once Noah and Fiona were off Uni, the two men who had escorted them up came over with their spears still brandished and in their hands, ready to cut them down if need be. "We will escort you to Commander Joseph's office and have him confirm your identities before we let you wander around the Keep. Your friend will have to come with us but in cuffs. We cannot have intruders wandering around without a way to keep them in line."
The quite guard walked over to the desk and from under it, he pulled out a pair of metal cuffs that he clasped tightly around Noah's wrists.
After they had done that everyone slowly started walking towards the lobby where they took the stairs up another 5 flights to get to the offices. The only sound going through the hall was the clicking of their boots hitting the ground.
No one seemed to be in the Keep, the usual healer stationed at each landing bay had for some reason not been there. Noah could feel Fiona's eyes scanning each floor as they went up noticing the lack of people as well.
On the commander office level, the two could only see one lady who had just left an office, she was an exceedingly beautiful lady. She had long blonde hair that reached the bottom of her waist. She had no blemishes across her skin the only mark was a birthmark on her forearm which was being covered by a white uniform's sleeve.
As they passed by her the two Troopers escorting her stopped and saluted, "Mistress Renn." Their hand beating against their chest as they saluted. Noah recognised the name from somewhere in his memory but he couldn't place where.
The passing Mistress Renn glanced over the two and her eyes landed on Noah, he felt like he was having his soul searched from her deep hazel eyes. Blinking a few times as if she recognised him before thanking the two Troopers and moving on.
Continuing their march forward the group of four stopped at the door opposite Mistress Renn's office and knocked on it four times. Without a pause, a voice snapped back, "Come in!" Grabbing and twisting the handle the chattier of the two guards were first to enter.
Behind a solid dark oak desk in the middle of reading various pieces of paper that Noah assumed was reports from the front line. The Commander behind the desk was bald, quite broad and very muscular just looking from how big the leather armour he was wearing was.
"What is this?" He didn't even take the time to look up and only glanced before looking back at the papers on his desk.
"Sir, this woman claims to be Captain Rachel from the Bernard Wall and has a report to be given in to General Sil!"
At hearing this the Commander finally stopped and looked up at the two both Noah and Fiona. Has hand started drumming on the desk, "So why are you bringing her to me Trooper..." the impatience could be heard in his voice, after staring at Noah and Fiona he glared at the Trooper that had talked first.
The Troopers buddy finally stepped up and started to reply, "Well Sir, it was General Bernard that had ..."
"Shut it you, I didn't ask you and as your superior, you should know better than to get in my way." Commander Joseph squeezed his hand into a tight fist and banged the table, denting the solid wood and leaving a mark on it.
Quickly shutting up and stepping back in line the other trooper had no choice but to answer the Commanders question himself without back up. "Sir, we were ordered by General Bernard to confirm everyone's identities especially if they were on specific missions for a general. We are only following order's."
"Well that there is Captain Rachel and as one of your Commanders I am telling you two idiots to get out of my office and back to work before I put you on clean up ops for the rest of the year." The two Dragon Troopers quickly left without even an apology to Noah and Fiona, rushing out the room as fast as they could.
Commander Joseph was quicker than you could blink at getting up and closing the door pressing his hand on to a rune that was engraved on the back of the door and filling it with magic aura. "Now, you two can explain to me exactly what you are doing impersonating Rachel and why Isan's young knight trainee is back in the keep."
