Chapter 63: Traitors
The storm that had been going for the past 6 month had prevented any phone connections. It also had grounded any planes and kept all ships in harbor. I could hear planes in the sky though. I got out of the barn and snuck into the house unnoticed, I had seen everyone talking in the living room. I had no clue about what. I found all of my stuff packed away, and grabbed it and stuffed a pillow and blanket into it. I got out quickly and ran. I went to the boats but stopped seeing the other Sydney and Tony out by them. They hadn't noticed me so I ran back to the barn, Maze and Phoenix were in the loft already while Neva was out in the pasture. I climbed back up into the loft, I moved the hay bails around to hide my location so if anyone glanced in they wouldn't see any of us there. I used some extra hay creating a mattress and put the blanket down over it then the pillow down.
"What am I going to do you two. I can't stay here, not anymore. I don't have anywhere. We don't have a home anymore."
Maze came and laid on the straw bed with me and set her head on my lap. I pet her as I sat there crying once again. I was alone again no matter what anyone said I was alone.
I got on my phone, it was still fully charged. I had some missed calls and a few voicemails that hadn't been listened too. I play one and heard Johns voice,
"Megan, I'm not sure if you there or will get this due to the storm but I hope you are alright. We will come for you soon so just hold out until then please. Me and your Uncle are both here together and both are very worried about you. Please stay safe, we love you and talk to you soon."
There was another message from the same number. I clicked on and hit play.
"It's been a while and the storm over your region still hasn't shown any sign of letting up. I know this isn't the best way to tell you but I don't know that I'll have the chance. Your mother has left us and so has your uncle. The virus has spread and reach us. We are currently trying to quarantine it and stop the spread there is still no cure... I love you so much and I hope you are safe and that I will be able to see you again soon. I don't think I will be able to call you again because I'm giving my phone to you uncle so he can talk to you. Please stay safe, I love you princess. Here your uncle." Tear we're running down my face while hearing noises shifting in the background. Then my uncle voice came through "Hello Megs. I know I don't have much more time here (cough) and I'm so sorry to leave you but I'll be with my brother and your mom soon enough. I'm so sorry I couldn't be with you (cough) and that I wasn't able to protect you. (Cough) I love you and you will always be my daughter (cough) I know we raised you well and you will become a beautiful women (cough) and I am so sorry I won't be able to be here (cough) to be apart of it. (cough) I'll be watching from above though with you mom and my brother, never forget that we are always with you as long as you remember us (cough) we will always be in your heart and near you no matter what (cough) I have to go now, remember that we love you. Goodbye Megs."
With that the voice mail ended. There wasn't another call from the number, the other call was from the company saying the phone number was being shut off.
I had lost everyone, all cause by one thing. This virus and the royals. I gave up my family to be with them and yet the one person I trusted most in the world betrayed me. I had betrayed my family and now had lost them. I didn't get to say goodbye to my mom or to my fathers, I didn't get to say bye to anyone even though they got to say goodbye to me. I at least had that I guess. I sat there crying and replaying the last voice mail over and over again. I wanted to hear their voices, because it would be for the last time. It might of even been close to my uncles last words. I knew they were all my parents and had all played a role in raising me, but I couldn't help but only think of them as family not like my dad. The sun went down and I laid in the hay loft cuddling Maze as my tears made her fur wet. I didn't go get food or eat I felt no need to and I didn't feel hungry at all.
I slept out there but I had no plans on returning to the house or speaking to anyone. I heard someone come in and say my name, it was a man but I didn't recognize his voice. He climbed the ladder and looked then climbed back down. "She's not here" I heard him say.
"Ok let see if the other have found her. They said all the boats are still here so she couldn't of left the island, she has to be somewhere." This voice was familiar it was Logan's. He sounded worried.
"We haven't seen her since she defeated Lea. Logan I know you are all worried but sometimes when someone is hiding it means they don't want to be found." The man said.
"I know that Dustin, but she's been alone for so long. She's one of us and is like my family, you don't know her so I'm sure you don't understand. None of us are ready to lose her though, we just need to know she's safe and make sure she remembers that she doesn't need to be alone anymore. She has us if she likes it or not. If we can't find her then we don't know what happened. All of her stuff is gone though so maybe she found a different way off the island." Logan said.
"Let see if the others have anything first before you rush to thinking something bad happened. Just remember she beat Lea very quickly and easily, she's strong and I believe she is able to take care of herself which is proven since she found a way to survive on own during the storm. She's clearly a fighter." He said.
The two left after there conversation. They were really out there looking for me, or they weren't but Dustin was right, I'm not ready to face any or talk to any of them. I need to be alone right now. Maybe that will change eventually but right now I just need to be left alone.
