Chapter 21: Hunter

When Megan said things would be different then I was used to, I had no clue just how different they would be. The buildings all around us when we walked from the station to her apartment were all falling apart and were definitely over crowded. I had no clue that this is where she grew up and she clearly couldn't of grown up having very much. The outside of her building at least looked up to standard instead of looking as if it would collapse any second. It also didn't appear as crowded as the other that we had walked by. The moment we walked in I saw Megan's mother, she looked older than mom did, she kind of looked like my grandma and I would of thought it was her grandmother if Megan hadn't told me that it was just her and her mom who lived in the apartment. Her mom seems nice, but I don't think she trusts or likes me very much. She kept her distance after she hugged me, I think she knows that I'm a higher tier than they are so it makes sense to want to keep some distance. I had no clue Megan played Lacrosse or could do gymnastics, I guess we never really talked about her old school or her life before she came to an elite school. I also don't quite understand why she has to help out with it. She obviously had chores as all children do, but her mom had to go to work. I can't even remember the last time either of my parents worked Friday-Sunday. They only ever work Monday-Thursday, if they have a business meeting that will sometimes be on a Friday morning or afternoon but they never went to work on Saturday. Then she said she would get chicken and corn for dinner, that sounds like something my parents would give my dog. I know cows and horses get feed corn, so why would we eat the same thing as farm animals or any animal in general. The cookies she made were delicious though, so I guess I will have to give her dinner a shot. I might just be overthinking it after all, Megan didn't seem surprised or worried about it so I'm sure I shouldn't be either. Maybe they just call foods different names since it's a different tier. The entire apartment still smelled from the freshly baked cookies. Megan's mother left very shortly after we arrived, and she didn't sound like she would be back until later in the day. We ate a few cookies and then Megan washed the dishes by hand, which is odd because we have a washing machine and they don't appear to, but in fairness we also have people who come and cook and clean for us. When Megan brought out the pillows and blankets to the living room, I when and sat on the futon. I had one in my dorm room that way when I had guests over I could have them sleep on it. This one was older than mine but it was still comfortable. I hadn't realized how tired I was until I had eat and sat down. I had slept horribly on the train ride here, I was worried that if I feel asleep I would move and it'd disturb Megan. She was sleeping and looked so peaceful with her head laying on shoulder and she had pushed herself and against me. She was so warm and the energy I feel when she touches me, warms my entire body and makes me feel so peaceful and like Im finally in the right place and everything will be ok. I didn't want to risk losing that feeling or waking her so I forced myself to stay awake most of the night to hold her and keep her comfortable and safe. I turned moved the futon into a bed and took a pillow and blanket. I laid down and closed my eyes while she was finishing up her chores and I drifted to sleep. I wasn't sure what we would do while we were here but it really didn't matter to me as long as I had her with me. I was a little nervous to meet her uncle and I guess he was bring a friend. I don't understand why her mom referred to him as "your uncles friend" why not just call him by his actual name or maybe it's a female and that why she refers to her as that, but I'm sure she most likely has reason for it. I will meet the both of them soon enough.
