Chapter 16: Thought Train

I woke up feeling warmth and I was blinding by the rays of the rising sun. The warmth was from the sun though. I heard and felt ever breath he took as his shoulders rose and fell my head moved with them. His arm wrapped around me holding me close. The feeling of this perfect moment held my breath captive. I was scared that if I moved I would wake up and it'd be gone. That I would lose it. I wanted to be greedy and hold this moment for just a while longer. I knew it would end but I wanted it to last as long as it could. The sun no longer blinded me but showed me the beautiful orange and pinks painting the horizon and the blue above them painting the sky, no clouds in sight. We were passing by the forest so I knew we were close to my home. To make it so the low-tiers didn't effect the higher tiers views they put miles and miles of forest between us, making it so none of them had to see us or our housing. Nobody cared about us, we lived on the outskirts of the country right by the water. The city was over populated and an apartment was the size of my room at the dorms, but this often held an entire family of 4 or more. My family was lucky, my uncle was a mid-tier my father was a high low-tier and almost made it to mid, so our apartment was bigger than most and he never had a hard time getting a job. I'm pretty sure my uncle helps my mom out. His wife died during childbirth and the baby died in high school. My uncles daughter was bullied and under a lot of pressure to excel like her mother had. She got a boyfriend and he cheated on her and left her for her best friend, her only friend. She couldn't take it and she snapped, she killed herself. She was missing and her body wasn't found for weeks, she had went out to the woods and done it near a river. She cut both of her wrist open, and animals ate her body after she was dead so by the time she was found almost nothing was left. She couldn't even have a proper funeral. His best friend was an elite and they were close, that's the only reason the search went on for more than a week. He was the reason her body was found and they didn't bury an empty casket. I'm not sure which was would of been worse, burying an empty casket and never know the truth or knowing the truth and realizing you couldn't save the only person you had left and last gift the love of you life gave you before her death. Either way my uncle has lost everything and has asked my mom to move in with him multiple time since my fathers death but she always refuses because she hates handouts and she doesn't want other to pity her. Now I am the only blood family my uncle has left, but he has always treated my mom as if she was his blood. We are all the family he has left, his best friend although an elite never married and has no kids. My uncle might consider him family, I kind of do. He has always been around as long as I can remember and he trained me and is the reason I was enrolled in classes to learn self defense and how to fight. He also bought my sports equipment and bought me new clothes, he always gave me presents for the holidays and my birthday. He was always around and barley ever missed any of games, and came to the low-tier end even though it was more than a 12 hour train ride to get to our house from his house. My uncle also rarely missed any of my games or events and would get me stuff as well and have my parents his daughters stuff, my uncle treated me like his child and so did his best friends. Oddly enough I had one mom and my birth dad but I felt like I had 3 fathers who were always there for me no matter what, but then my real dad died and with me barely being around and then not able to come to my school to visit, I felt like I lost more than just my real dad. I felt like they all died with him that day. It's never been the same since, the 3 of them were so close and although my uncle and his friend were older than my father and higher tiers, they all always seemed to get along and do everything together. They were inseparable and best friends. It's probably part of why I felt like I had 3 dads and I was treated so well and why both my uncle and my uncles friend both try to do everything they can to take care of me and my mother especially now that my dad died. My mom is just stubborn and refuses to take there gifts and money. They paid for a lot of my dads funeral and my mom has felt bad about it and refused things from them since, but I heard the funeral was nice and they had fresh flowers. I still wish I could of been there, then maybe I would of been able to say goodbye. My happy moment of sitting and being held next to Hunter has turned so dark. It reminded me of my uncles warnings since he wanted to keep me safe so what happened to his daughter didnt happen to me, but that made me think about his best friend and my dad. The forest we were passing through reminded me of my dad, since he's the reason my powers got trained while my mother wanted me to hide them and never learn to use them. Instead my father called my uncle and his best friend to teach me, and to make sure I was safe. The forest had become my happy place where I didn't need to hide who I was but after my fathers death it turned into a dark place that I didn't want to go and I avoided as best as I could.
