"Hawk Direveil...." The minute I muttered the name it seemed to resonate with something deep inside me, it felt...right.

"Hawk Direveil, hmm...Good name. Now lets have a look at your information and see what I can do." Blaise started walked away from his throne and walked up to the wall on my right side. It seemed to be made entirely of a glowing white marble. He waved his hand again and then my dark gray status screen with its tarnished golden border appeared on the wall in front of us.

<A Higher Being is assessing you, unable to resist>

The inner voice announced to me. Blaise was starting to piss me off a bit, he wasn't explaining much. And not to mention noticing my Race as a primitive human did not rise my spirits. But if these stats worked like most games than I was doing pretty good. Merlin's descendant? and another bloodline that is just ????, what is that about? And Merlin as in The Merlin? Ok that's pretty freaking cool.

"Hahaha, Merlin you old cad! You never told me you had a kid!" Blaise started laughing with a large grin plastered across his face. "Well Hawk you may have given the Oath unknowingly, but your journey will surely be an interesting one. I was your ancestors teacher for many years before I got stuck here that is..." His face lost his grin and became serious, and I thought I could detect a slight tinge of sadness in his eyes. He quickly shook his head and continued, "And this is the only thing I can tell you about the Oath. You gave up your past life and signed a contract to move to another magical world, you have no more choice in this matter. So, do you need an explanation of the Attributes or Stats and what they do?"

"I played a lot of RPGs in my time, unless its widely different, Strength should control how much you can carry, how hard you can punch, and should affect the amount of damage inflicted with weapons. Dexterity should affect how fast you can move, the overall control you have over your body, your accuracy with ranged weapons. Constitution determines how much Health and Stamina you have and how fast they regenerate, should also have some effect on how likely you are to get sick or poisoned. Intelligence should determine how easily you learn new things, also how much Mana you have, its regenerative rate, and how strong spells are. Charisma should affect how others perceive you, a higher score will help with talking your way out of situations or getting a better price on goods. NPCs will treat you better the higher the score as well. Luck I have no idea as no game has ever explained it beyond it having some random effect on drop chance of loot." I recited all I knew about these stats, I was pretty smug about it, while freaking out internally. I was getting sent to another magical world, and I don't even know the reason why I am forced to go? This sucks, but its also kinda exciting, I mean I was a hardcore RPG gamer after all. One of the main reasons I decided to go backpacking to begin with was I was so tired of venturing through virtual worlds. I wanted a real adventure; I wanted the real deal.... Maybe I just got exactly what I wanted.

After this slightly epic realization I looked up to see a glare leveled at me from Blaise, it looked like I just kicked his puppy, I stepped back in shock.

"You are mostly correct, but there is something I am going to make very clear. This is not a game, there are no NPCs. Everyone you meet, anyone you may end up killing, all have a soul just like you. They are as real as you and I. And I do not give a damn about the consequences if you start thinking ill of non-humans and that they are less than you because they are not human, I will break out and I Will destroy the very essence of your soul. Then I will hunt down your entire family lineage, do I make myself Clear?" His voice remained low and deadly serious, the building darkened and started shaking, I could hear thunder in the distance.

"Perfectly, Sir!" I quickly responded; I didn't think mentioning NPCs was a sore spot for Blaise.

"Good, because you have the blood of my student no matter how weak I will not allow you to follow that road. Now," Blaise's face went back to an amiable look and the room went back to the glowing white from before, the thunder ceased as well, "you may be wondering about the primitive part about in your race? Well all humans from Earth get this modifier due to there being no natural energy on the planet. It's been a couple thousand years since the energy was high enough for someone to awaken naturally on earth. This is also the reason why so many sections in your status are locked. But do not fret, for I shall forcibly awaken you. Just so that you are aware, this is not normal procedure. As a matter of fact, everything beyond me making sure you knew how to see your status screen and understand the attributes is done by my choice."

"Well I really appreciate it Mr. Blaise, I am still really confused about this Oath and what's going on, but I do appreciate it." I replied to him.

"I am doing this because of your blood ties to Merlinus, and I haven't had someone take the Oath or use a gate in the last 500 years. I am surprised you were even able to find the gate...But that is done now. I cannot tell you anything about the Oath, don't bother asking. And I advise you to never divulge that you took the Oath to anyone, it will only bring you trouble. I know its mysterious and frustrating, I can see it plain as day on your face." Blaise said noted the highly frustrated look I had on my face.

"Now enough if this, let me explain a few things first and we will get on with awakening you. First of all after you awaken most of your locked status areas will unlock, your race modifier will change as well. Now you are already pretty familiar with the attributes so I will skip all of them except Luck as you seem to not understand it very well. Luck affects everything, it affects the chances of both positive and negative events happening around you. It is a very powerful attribute. Most people never raise it above 4 at most, you naturally have a score of 6. Events will happen around you whether you want them too or not. It would be nearly impossible for you to live a quiet life. But who wants quiet anyway? To boring for my tastes, a good adventure is good for the bones and gets the blood pumping." A Wild grin spread across his face, with a wild gleam in his eyes, honestly the grin was contagious. It quickly spread across my own face at the thought of an actual adventure, and since I had a locked mana bar, I assume magic was a real thing. I know I'm losing a lot back on Earth and I may never see my family again, but according to Blaise, and looking around there was no way I was going back anyway.

"Now there are bloodlines, they are passed down by parents to their children and so on. You have two bloodlines. Merlins bloodline I have no idea what bonus it may give, and it is of the Weak rank, at least its not the lowest rank of Poor. Unlocking it may happen with the Awakening process or you may have to do something in particular to unlock it, I do not know. Now as to your second bloodline..." Blaise face took on a series face, "Since even my skills cannot see what it is there are only two possibilities. The first is that the bloodline is so degraded that it is unusable, I don't believe this is the case because normally those bloodlines do not show up on a Status screen. The second possibility is that it is a very rare and old bloodline. I am more inclined to believe it is the second, I cannot even begin to guess what it is or what it will take to find it out. But I will help you conceal this fact about yourself from others while you figure it out. Abilities and skills, you can figure out on the journey. Now there are no classes per say in the world you are going to, if you have the ability you can do it."

Blaise gave me a serious look once again, "Now are you ready for the Awakening process?" He questioned almost ominously.

"Lets do it." I replied.

"This may hurt a little bit, so great ready." Blaise remarked with a slight smirk on his face. Before I could ask what he meant I screamed! I felt a fire starting from my core spreading out, I felt like I was being burned alive, lucky for me it only lasted 3 seconds before I lost consciousness.
