Chapter 4: Chapter Four

ONE WEEK LATER

It's been a week since I last saw Justin. The reason being because I kept avoiding him. I just didn't know what to say to him or what was going to happen between us now. I didn't know how to face him.

Brenda kept telling me to just talk to him and explain why I ran away while Kyle told me to just kiss him when I see him and he'd forgive me. So I decided to do what Brenda said first and if that doesn't work then I'll do what Kyle suggested. They've been inviting both me and Justin to hang out, but I never showed up while Justin showed up just to see if I would then when he realized that I wasn't coming he'd leave. I didn't want to hurt him, but at the same time I didn't want to let him hurt me.

So on Tuesday after my last class, Kyle told me that he was going to hang out with Justin and the other guys at the park again just in case I wanted to stop by. I thanked him and told him I'd show him up, but to not tell Justin in case he decided not to go because of me. So by 1:30 p.m. I arrived at the park walking there from school which took thirty minutes to get here. I spotted the guys' and walked towards them until Justin finally saw me.

He said something to the guys' then he walked towards me.

The first thing he asked me was "How are you doing?"

"I'm doing okay, how are you?"

"I'm not sure yet, but I want you to know that I'm sorry for whatever I did to offend you. I didn't mean to."

I walked closer to him and cupped his cheek with my right hand "You didn't offend me, Justin I'm just scared of the way you make me feel. It's too many feelings all at once. I've just never felt this way about any guy before so it's just that I don't know how to handle what I feel for you."

He gave me an intense look that made my knees feel like jelly "I feel the same way about you. I'm in love with you and I know that we don't know each other well, so if you want to wait until we know each other well enough to start dating..."

I shook my head "No we've waited long enough, I'm ready now if you are."

He grinned and it made my heart melt because I had missed his smile "Dawn, will you be my girlfriend?"

I jumped in his arms hugging him tightly "Yes."

He hugged me back and then when I pulled back to see his face I smiled at him because I liked the way he was holding me like as if he was never going to let me go. Then this time I kissed him first and he kissed me back passionately making me want to keep kissing him. I guess the soccer guys had been watching us because once we started kissing they started whooping and hollering. We tuned them out and just got lost in our kiss forgetting our surroundings yet again.

I could definitely get used to his addicting kisses. Then when we finally pulled apart he invited me to join them. I agreed but only if I could be goalie because my Dad didn't like it when I played sports with guys' unless they were relatives. Walking hand in hand he took me to where the other goalie was.

"Hector, go play dude my girl's goalie now."

Hector smirked "But doesn't she kick better than me?"

"Yeah she still does, but we're going to see if she's also better at you as goalie too."

Hector laughed "Alright I accept the challenge if she's better than me as goalie too I'll take everyone out to eat my treat, but if she's not you're paying dude, nice to meet you by the way,"

I nodded back "Nice to meet you too."

Justin smiled at me so I smiled back and watched him walk over to Kyle who waved at me so I waved back. I still couldn't believe that Justin was my boyfriend now. Talk about not being ready for a relationship, it turns out he changed my mind. Now that he was mine I wasn't planning on letting him go.

I quickly sent Brenda a text telling her that I had some good news and to come join us. She arrived ten minutes later standing behind the net so that we could still talk while she wasn't near enough to get hit with the ball. I could tell our friends were happy for us and I could tell that I had made Justin's day because he couldn't stop smiling all day and the way he kept scoring goals was impressive. I knew that we were going to have challenges or obstacles in our relationship, but I also knew that together we could get through them all.

TWO MONTHS LATER

It was finally the day of my cousin Velma Wilson's wedding and I was getting dressed in the guest bedroom that I was sharing with Brenda. Brenda was ready so she was downstairs waiting for me in the living room. She was wearing a tight strapless red thigh high dress with black high-heeled open toed wedges. Her hair was up in a fancy hairstyle and her makeup was professionally done too and mine was too.

I quickly slipped into my royal blue silky knee-length dress with spaghetti straps with a a v-neckline. I topped my outfit off with closed-toed black satin Mary-Jane wedges and a diamond necklace with matching diamond hoop earrings and a diamond bracelet. Once I was ready I walked downstairs slowly so that I wouldn't fall or break anything or fall on my face. Brenda gasped when she saw me and so did the other bridesmaids, but while they commented on how beautiful I looked, Brenda came over to hug me.

She said "You look gorgeous wait until my brother sees you."

I blushed "Thanks Bren, you look gorgeous too. I can already see the look on Kyle's face when he sees you."

We laughed when she started blushing too. We left five minutes later in the black car a hired driver was driving us in since Aunt Sylvia and Uncle Sebastian had rented a driver for us for today and tomorrow. We arrived at the church fifteen minutes later and spotted the guys saving a seat for both of us next to them. As soon as I sat down after greeting Kyle with a fist bump I sat down next to Justin who was smiling at me. He put his hand palm up on his left leg so I slipped my hand in his with my fingers in between his.

He leaned over to whisper "You look amazing as always."

I whispered back "Thank you, you look handsome yourself as always."

Then the violinists started the wedding march song which was everybody's cue to stand up. So we all stood up and looked back to see two adorable identical twin girls as the flowers girls throwing flowers petals all down the aisle as they walked by with smiles on their faces. They were both wearing beautiful pink lace dresses. Justin squeezed my hand and I squeezed his back since he knew how much I had always wanted younger siblings.

After the flowers girls' seven couples paired together which were the bridesmaids and groomsmen entered one after the other. Then it was finally the bride walking down the aisle escorted by her Dad who handed her over to her groom. Uncle Willis looked like he was trying hard not to cry and honestly I was too. I loved my dear cousin so much because she was like the sister I never had so I didn't have anything against her, I just hope that she'll forgive me one day soon.

In high school, we hung out all the time because we were neighbors' and we were pretty close. Then she told me who her crush was, it turned out to be my chemistry partner in my chemistry class. So I would always talk about her to him until he finally snapped in front of the whole class and blurted out that he liked me and didn't want to hear about my cousin anymore because he would never date her. So I snapped back too and told him that he wasn't my type so to forget about me and move on.

That became the topic everybody in school talked about so my cousin heard about it before I could explain what had happened. She ended up getting her heart broken and ended up blaming me so she believed the rumors before she heard my side of the story. So she transferred high schools just to avoid me and we stopped hanging out not because I wanted to, but because she blocked my phone number and my social media and just wanted nothing to do with me. I cried over losing her for a whole month, but then just started living my life like I normally would and made some new friends.

I honestly didn't blame her since I had blamed myself too over that guy choosing me over her. I know it was messed up that our relationship ended over a jerk of a guy, but that was had been her choice. It wasn't even her idea for me to come to her wedding, but Uncle Willis and her Mom, Aunt Fiona invited me. If Velma ended up saying that I was now going to try to take her husband away from her I was planning on walking away and leaving the party.

The wedding ceremony was beautiful and by the time the bride and groom got in the limo with the photographer and drove away everyone dispersed. Justin hadn't released my hand since I had sat down next to him before the ceremony began. I didn't mind since I like his possessive side. We've only been dating for two months, but to us it feels like two years already.

He always takes me out on dates every Saturday then all four of us hang out every Sunday. Our relationship so far is going great, but the more time we spend together the more I fall in love with him. He's so sweet and considerate and always thinks about me first before himself while I think about him first before myself. He makes me laugh and he's a gentleman and we even had study dates Mondays and Wednesdays.

He's also had two ex-girlfriends. His first girlfriend was just dating him to make other guys jealous until she finally caught the new guy's attention so she dumped Justin and started dating that guy in less than five minutes. So we've both been through tough breakups almost around the same time too. It was weird though because I felt like we had way too much in common and it wasn't on purpose.

Two hours later, we were at the wedding reception which had been beautifully decorated by my Aunts' and Mom. Speaking of my Mom she wouldn't leave Justin alone and when she wasn't with Justin she was with Kyle. Dad tried his best to distract her until he finally succeeded when he told her that the bride and groom had arrived so we hid so she wouldn't find us until way later. Brenda had just been laughing at the poor guys like crazy while I had been feeling bad for them not knowing how to help them out.

We slipped into a room that we found unlocked and just hung out there. Then half an hour later, Brenda and Kyle left me and Justin alone. As usual I started feeling shy, my heart started pounding like drums in my chest and my cheeks felt like as if they were on fire. Justin knew the effect he had on me and he liked it.

He told me that I also had an effect on him which was that I made him feel nervous so his hands got all sweaty and his heart accelerated at around three hundred miles per hour. He sat down in a leather chair so I walked over and sat on his lap so that our eyes were level with each other's since he's just two inches taller than me. Then we met halfway and started kissing. He wrapped both of his arms around my waist pulling me closer while I wrapped one of my arms around his neck running my fingers through his thick soft curls.

My other hand was cupping his face. We ended up losing track of time so when the door flew open we pulled apart startled, but neither of us moved so we waited. We had no idea who it was and we knew that we were probably not supposed to be in here. The person walked out and turned the lights off and closed the door with a loud click coming from the outside.

I stood up adjusting my dress then I walked over to the door and turned the doorknob, but like I assumed when I heard the loud click we were locked inside. I didn't have my cellphone and neither did Justin since I had left mine in the hired driver's car and Justin had forgotten his at my Uncle's house. Justin didn't really seem upset about it though and I had to admit I wasn't either. I'd rather be here with just him than out there anyways.

Then he walked towards me and slipped his left arm around my waist pulling me close to him while he slipped my loose curl behind my left ear "I'm sorry I suggested coming in here, I don't want you to miss your cousin's wedding so I'm going to try my best to open that door."

I shook my head "It's not your fault, handsome. Even if you can't open the door we'll find another way out."

He nodded then released me grabbing a crowbar nearby then he tried his best to open the door, but the door wouldn't budge. I was starting to get goosebumps as I looked around and realized that there were no windows in this room. The vents in the ceiling were way to small to climb out of. So we were stuck and even if Brenda and Kyle found us I don't think they'd be able to find the guy with the key or open the door from the outside.

I could tell Justin was determined to open the door though since he was trying tool after tool. Then I heard a hissing sound coming from above us. I looked up and Justin froze too. Smoke started coming through the ceiling vents and it smelled like gasoline.

I looked at Justin who now looked even more concerned then he quickly slipped his dress shirt off "Dawn, here take my shirt and tie it around your head and cover your mouth and nose. Try your best to not inhale the smoke."

I shook my head "What about you?"

He extended it to me so I took it then he replied "I'll be okay for a few minutes."

That wasn't comforting so I took his shirt, which was still warm from his body heat and it carried his familiar scent and did what he told me to do because if I didn't I knew that he'd do it for me. So I looked around for something he could use too then I found a towel which I gave to him so he took it and quickly tied it around his head covering his mouth and nose. Now he was trying harder to get the door open using all of his strength. Half an hour later, it was hard to breathe and we were both weak sitting side by side with my head on his shoulder.

I know that Justin tried, but I still didn't blame this on him all I knew was that somebody had done this on purpose and I couldn't even begin to think who would do something like this. Before I could begin to go through the list of people who didn't like me from here in Houston, Texas I blacked out.
