Chapter 208: Guardian of a World (944 Words)

Elea, a planet thriving with live and in the early stages of birthing intelligent live, which sadly also meant that many different beings traveling the cosmos start taking notice of the young world.

Terrifying beings of the dark depths and otherworldly realms start trying to spread their influence into the world to taint it and take over.

As a counter measure to this Elea created guardians born from its very flesh and blood in the form of walking masses of earth, stone, plants and water.

Literal mountains rose up from the ground and marched to the many tainted spots that started appearing around the planet to bury them with their bodies.

This worked for a while, but the outer beings aren't idiots, they start scheming and ultimately manage to open up a hole in the defense of the world and flood its surface with their taint.

Many guardians fell before the might of the outer beings champions that were sent through the hole and Elea became desperate.

In its desperation it took a great risk and grabbed a wandering soul that had gotten lost in the cosmos.

Such an act is very dangerous as such souls could be fledgling or traps set up by beings like the ones that are trying to take it over, but in this case, its just a regular soul, lost and drifting without purpose and all its connections to the world it originated from lost.

Using this soul, Elea crafted a new guardian, no, a child, it's child.

Pouring the very life blood from its core into the creation of this child of it, a powerful creature is born.

As the tainted hordes cheer in delight at the dwindling resistance of their prey, the very ground underneath them bursts open bringing with it the smoldering blood from the planets core which burned thousands in an instant and trapped thousands more in its cooling grasp.

A behemoth of similar proportions as the guardians that the horde knew and slayed rose up form the opened up hole, but unlike the other guardians, this one was angry.

Guardians are tools that the world used to protect itself, but this one was not.

A rage filled roar echoed through the devastated land where it rose from the ground and caused many of the flying members of the tainted horde to be blown out of the sky with bleeding ears.

Raising its colossal arms to the sky they start to extend and split apart into multiple tentacles seething burning magma from cracks along their surface.

Without a shred of mercy, the child of Elea swung its tentacle limbs and obliterated almost half of the present army by trashing them all over the surroundings.

The destruction ensued until a loud explosion cut through the sound of thousands dying every second.

Two of left tentacles got cleanly served off and fell to the ground where they claimed a few more lives.

Standing on top of one served tentacle is a horned and winged monstrosity with a burning blue sword slung onto its shoulder and a mocking smile on its crude face.

"Is this the last ditch effort of this world? I must say… not impressed." It mutters in a language that sounds like rubbing two metal pieces together.

"At least come up with something new-" The thing tried to talk some more but was interrupted by giant maws of metal rising form underneath the ground trying to devour it.

With a quick flap of its wings the creature shot into the sky barely escaping the shining maw of the serpentine thing coming from underground.

"The hell is that?" A bit shaken by the sudden appearance of another colossal creature the horned thing didn't notice the projectile about the size of an apple shooting at immense speed towards it.

Guardians are big and hard to create which is why there aren't too many of them and they rarely team up because of how few there are, so two being in one place came unexpected.

In a display of great speed and awareness the winged creature manages to narrowly block the projectile with its sword but not without cost as the immense force at which the seed like thing was thrown rattled it down to the bone.

'What the fu*k is going on? Since when do these behemoths use such small projectiles?' He didn't get much time to think as the blocked projectile explodes in a cloud of green pollen, preventing him from seeing anything.

'Shit! This is bad!' Rapidly flapping his wings he leaves the cloud just in time to see how the entire cloud got swallowed by the metal snake that rose from the ground.

'I need support to deal with this situatio-' Once again interrupted he crashed into the ground shaking and coughing.

Blue blood with green bits in it fall onto the ground.

'Why am I coughing? What is this feeling of my entire body being devoured and ready to burst?' Filled with confusion and slowly but steady approaching fear, he looks down at his hands and watched in shock how a small green mushroom pierce through his skin and unfolds its cap in the light of the sun.

Untold fear dawned up him as he realized what was going on, but it was already too late.

The metal teeth of the snake grind the mushroom ridden corpse to paste before completely freeing itself from the ground revealing the fact that it was connected to the giant tentacle golem who had turned its attention back to the small fries of the army after catapulting the mushroom spore filled seed at the winged enemy.
