"..."
Xiu Ye stared at the drooling Tang Wulin with a bead of sweat dropping by the left side of his forehead.
What. The. Heck.
It's been five minutes now and the boy kept staring at him, eh, his lunch box and he hadn't spoken a single word.
'No doubt, he's a glutton alright.'
"Um, do you want to eat this?" Not a second after Xiu Ye said that, Tang Wulin appeared right in front of him. His face just inches away from his, with his eyes bulging like crazy.
If Xiu Ye didn't know that Tang Wulin was straight and is six years old, he would have let out a manly scream to call for a teacher.
Also, what was that speed?! It was like he teleported.
Gluttons, never underestimate them...
"REALLY?!"
"Um, well I still want to eat so you can eat the half of it."
"Okay, I understand! You eat the half of it. I'll be back!" Before Xiu Ye could say anything, Tang Wulin had already walked away like the wind.
"..." Xiu Ye sat there, on his lonesome table, with a few other students, looking at the back of Tang Wulin.
Gluttons... Never underestimate them...
Looking down at his lunch box, which is filled with the half part of it with neatly packed rice, the other side had three sections with the top section filled with small pieces of cooked octopus tentacles, the middle section had shrimps and the last part only had a deep brown black sauce.
Xiu Ye wasn't really a seafood person, he mostly likes noodles due to his past life eating and cooking it most of the time, but this was what Mang Tian had, as well as frozen chicken.
Well, it wasn't really a surprise. Glorybound City is situated next to an ocean, so most of the food here are mostly seafood.
'I should eat quickly. Knowing Tang Wulin, well I don't really "know" him, he should probably getting some more food to eat and may have thought to save the other half of my lunch as something as desert.' Xiu Ye shrugged and started eating. Tasting his lunch as normal as ever. Which was really weird as earlier when he made breakfast for him and his old man, the latter had become... weird.
Whatever. I need to focus on the recovery of my spirit so I could start using the cultivation method.
....
"It's really unfair you know? I know my martial soul is trash, but that doesn't mean the teacher has to be bias." Tang Wulin grumbled with a pout, crossing his arms together.
Xiu Ye shook his head.
"Of course there isn't any fairness. Life isn't all rainbows and sunshine. If it did, humans wouldn't have forced the soul beasts to near extinction."
Tang Wulin let out a sigh and nodded his head. He understood but he was still six years old, of course he wanted life to be easy.
Noon had already come and all classes for today had finished. So both boys were walking out of the academy and was heading out of the school grounds.
Unexpectedly, or expectedly, Xiu Ye and Tang Wulin had became friends when the latter came back to the former to eat the half of his lunch.
The most talented and powerful student in the academy and the most weak student, had became friends. It shocked their classmates and other students who heard of such news.
Of course most of them just waved the news off, as Tang Wulin being a kissass to Xiu Ye.
But that wasn't the truth. Heck, they weren't even friends.
They were family.
"So you're really uncle Mang Tian's son? I never knew."
"Adopted son. I'm an orphan, and he took me in after I awakened my martial soul."
"Huh. So, does that makes us cousins?" Tang Wulin's eyes twinkled at the prospect of having a powerful cousin.
I never have any siblings but having a powerful cousin sounds so better!
Xiu Ye paused for a moment and almost facepalmed at not thinking about that. Mang Tian is not only Tang Wulin's future teacher but also his uncle, the older brother of the latter's mother.
"...Yeah, guess so." He said scratching his cheek. Not minding at the fact of having Tang Wulin as his cousin.
"YEAH!" Tang Wulin threw his arms up high in joy, his face of pure of happiness. A moment passes, he blinked, a brilliant idea came into his head, and his mouth upturned into a wide megawatt smile.
"Then, cousin, can you teach me how to be a soul master?"
"Huh? Why are you asking me, a six year old, about teaching you on how to become a soul master? Aren't you a soul master yourself?" Xiu Ye looked at his step cousin with thinned lips.
Tang Wulin quickly shook his head.
"No! I mean, uh, I–" He paused, his head turned towards a certain direction.
"Hm? Wulin, what's up–" Xiu Ye's eyes widened as a certain small figure attracted his eyes.
The afternoon sun wasn't too harsh, but the weather today was unusually good. So, the sunshine simply produced a comfortable warmth. The sunlight had shined down upon a smear of silver, catching Tang Wulin and Xiu Ye's attention.
A little girl was squatted down near the roadside. She was slightly shorter than the two boys with a head of short silver hair. The sunlight had reflected off it, creating a silver flash and attracting their attention.
'Na'er.' Xiu Ye almost blurted out the girl's name out loud.
Na'er, also known as the other half of Gu Yuena the Silver Dragon King. A girl whose fate was akin to a certain Three-Eyed Golden Lion.
'I completely forgot about this certain scenario between them.' He glanced at the dazed looking Tang Wulin.
It was as if there was some sort of profound attraction between the two of them. The young girl raised her head and returned his gaze. She wore shabby clothes in addition to a dirt stained face, clearly resembling a little beggar. However, aside from her silver hair, she also had two eyes that stood out from the crowd.
She had big eyes, with two crystal clear amethyst pupils. Even though they were separated by a distance, Tang Wulin could see his image reflected in her eyes, naturally long eyelashes framing them.
"Little girl, where are your parents?" Right at that moment, several young delinquents surrounded her after being attracted by her silver hair.
The little girl avoided their eyes, once again lowering her head.
The delinquents shot looks to one another before one of them called out, "Silver hair is really rare! Could you be from one of the other two continents? I reckon the black market dealers will really like her silver hair and purple eyes."
Greed colored their eyes as they nodded towards each other.
The youngster who had previously spoken squatted down. "Hey, little girl. Where's your family?"
Without speaking, she shook her lowered head.
Beaming with smiles, the youngster said, "Are you hungry? Big brother will bring you to eat some good things, how about it?"
The little girl shook her head once again, but this time, she shook it much more forcefully.
The youngster shot a meaningful look to his companions before reaching out his hand to pull the little girl's arm, lifting her up against her will. His companions encircled them, obstructing others from seeing this.
Even as the little girl let out a frightened scream, the delinquent already had her over his shoulders.
Tang Wulin's eyes widened in fury. You bastards! He unhesitatingly took a step forward towards them, his intentions clear.
But there was another whose step was much faster.
"Ahhhh!" The delinquent who had the little girl over his shoulder, found himself falling and landing faceplanting on the ground. His nose broken and blood running down.
As for the little girl, she had blinked for a moment then found herself standing besides a confused looking Tang Wulin.
"What the?!"
"Bro!"
"What the fuck is going on?!"
The delinquents all issued out loud confused questions and profanities.
Xiu Ye didn't say anything, standing behind the group of delinquents who are all looking at their down bro, he narrowed his eyes in calm fury.
He knew that he shouldn't have intervene. Both Tang Wulin and Na'er would have been fine as these thugs knew that they shouldn't try anything against a soul master, as any children who are one are valued by a lot of organization: especially the federation government would have expend a lot of resources for the cause of either their death or kidnapping. The thugs would have realized this and back off.
"I just don't stand scums like you lot." Xiu Ye spat out at the back of one of the delinquents, quickly earning their attention on him, but he had already moved to kicked forward at the legs of the delinquent in front of him. The delinquent screamed out in pain.
They were all normal people, even though they have martial souls: they don't have the soul power to properly use them.
As a rank 11 Soul Master and one who has a yellow soul ring that improved both his mind and body: Xiu Ye can easily moved faster than their eyes could see and break their bones, even turn them to ashes if he used his soul power; which had the flame energy of Ryūjin Jakka mixed in.
He light took a few steps back as the delinquent fell back on the ground, screaming out in pain, he shook his head and put his right foot on the young man's mouth to silence him. Xiu Ye's posture straight and eyes sharp as he stared at the eyes of the remaining delinquents.
The delinquents froze in place, their eyes filled with terror and shock as a child half their size easily took down two of their guys on the ground crying and bleeding, especially one who was their leader.
They took a few steps back in terror as the child's eyes stared at them, fury and righteousness burning in his eyes, but to them? It was like looking at the eyes of a bloodthirsty soul beast.
They all gulped in nervousness.
Xiu Ye stared at them coldly for a brief moment and turned towards the one, the other one on the ground, whose nose is bleeding.
"You little fucker!" The guy shouted in hatred, shocking his friends.
Can't he see that the child, probably a soul master, defeated one of them easily? They all thought.
But the anger at both his broken bloody nose and downed friend had clouded the youngster's judgement and mind. All that was in his mind was revenge.
"I'm gonna kill you!" The bloody nosed delinquent hurriedly stood up, clenched both his hands into fists, and charged at the child in front of him.
Xiu Ye's eyes turned much colder. He used the delinquent on his foot as a platform and walked towards His right hand slightly waved to the side, fingers clenched into a tight fist.
A small blue-cyan light appeared around his hand.
'Trace, on.'
It was a weapon known for hand-to-hand combat as a fist-load weapon. It was invented for close-quarters combat during WWI, when fighting primarily took place in trenches.
The surrounding audience's eyes was quickly attracted to that light around Xiu Ye's hand, wondering what it was. The delinquent heading towards the latter's direction however, didn't pay any attention to it.
Instead, he cocked his right arm back, Xiu Ye's eyes narrowed, and the older boy struck out for a jab towards the latter's face.
However, Xiu Ye's senses and perception are better than normal people due to his rank 11 soul power, abnormal unknown amount of spiritual power and the combat experiences of Genryūsai Yamamoto, hence, as he swayed to the left side, he completely dodges the attack with ease.
Now, it was Xiu Ye's time to retaliate.
Cocking back his right arm as well, the light around his hand disappeared, showing a black colored trench knife. He could feel two-tenth of his soul power and something else within him being depleted, something to worry about, but he didn't hesitate, he quickly send out a punch towards the older boy.
Whether it was because he was short or it was intentional, Xiu Ye's fist had cracked a pair of nuts.
The other delinquents, even the one with broken legs, Tang Wulin and Na'er all stared in horror and sucked in a breath of cold air. Moreso for the former two, as they had quickly lost all colors of their faces and they had immediately covered their little brother.
The leader of the delinquents froze, his mouth open, and his eyes rolled back. A brief moment later, he dropped down to the ground unconscious.
Xiu Ye rolled his shoulders around and let out a tired sigh. Tracing something from his inner world into the real world was, uncomfortable and tiring. It was probably because he was unused to it and the feeling would fade as he uses this ability of his more in the future.
Glancing to the other delinquents, who quickly froze in fear and terror, he said nonchalantly.
"Don't make me say it twice. Get your leader up and get the fuck out of town, even out of the continent." All the delinquents, even the one held up with the help of his two friends, hurriedly nodded their heads like chickens. They quickly took their leader and ran away.
Xiu Ye continued staring at their backs for a while before shaking his head.
"Alright guys, their not here anymore so–"
"Cousin!" Xiu Ye blinked his eyes, staring at a bewildered looking Na'er, and looked down at the kneeling Tang Wulin.
"Please teach me the ways of being a soul master!"
"..."
....
"To think that Xiu Ye had easily, and brutally I might add, ended that fight without using his martial soul. I wonder, did he get that from me or his father?" A beautiful and melodic voice sounded out loud in a bench under a tree.
It belonged to a mature and voluptuous body of a woman: wearing only a white sundress with frilly ends of both her sleeves and the helms of her dress, and a pair of brown shoes. Her skin is as smooth as white jade. Her face and bundled hair are unfortunately obscured by a huge round hat.
She hummed for a while, her finger on her lips, and she turned towards a certain person.
"What do you think, Fei'er?" Sitting besides the unknown woman was Yu Fei, dressed in her normal set of nun outfit with the headdress.
