A tent city isn't what I expected for our accommodations. But I suppose springing for hotel rooms would be quite costly. The guy on the motorcycle arrived shortly after we did. At least he looks like the same guy I saw yesterday on my way to the training facility. He's a construction worker. There are quite a few construction workers that transported themselves here. While the construction workers went to work, the rest of us were setting up tents and cots a short walk from the actual construction site. We set up the mess tent first so the cooks could get to work. Then the showers were set up. The company's on site doctor actually has a trailer to sleep in and a first aide trailer with central air to work in. We're on the edge of the Mohave and it is hot. Besides me as the medical assistant, there's also a nurse. The sleeping tents and cots were set up last. The foreman, who's human of course, gets a private tent that's also his office.
And there are some workers here I didn't expect. They're female advanced chimps and they are employed by the construction company. They're called Service Maidens, and their job is to provide female companionship to the construction workers. I'm still trying to absorb that construction companies employ women in this fashion. But I guess it's a good way to keep your other workers from running off looking for fun, provide the fun for them. And I guess since most advanced chimps came from Bonobos, so that kind of makes sense. On top of being less aggressive than common chimps, Bonobos use sex to relieve stress as well as to prevent and resolve conflicts.
