Chapter 5: Inside Story part 1

Long ago there was a child with almond color hair, brown eyes and slightly tanned skin who's name was Sed. Only a small kid on the surface, but he was part of a small mercenary team that travelled from small towns to small villages. They called themselves White Crows Mercenaries but in truth they were bandits in disguise. They weren't the strongest in overall strength but they posses a Highlander and 3 adventurer veterans. As Sed grew up with them robbing, extortion, blackmailing, fighting and killing became his every day view.

When Sed turned ten he was called to the boss's tent. Ones there his caregiver the Highlander told Sed that his parents died long ago from hunger because of how weak they were. The Highlander and boss of the White Crows also told him that he decided to take him in because using a kid would make many jobs easier.

"If you don't want to die a miserable death as your parents you have to obey and learn to survive" said the Highlander.

Sed could only nod his head in understanding.

Not wanting to end up dead from hunger Sed did what he was told to do. He lied, he killed, he stole, he continued to live a life with no principles so long as he could survive. Sed knew that what he was doing was bad, but if he ever decide to go against the others, he might get killed or something much worse. Surviving was Sed's number one priority.

After growing up in that environment Sed gained the necessary skills to survive. That made the others admire him for his preserverance, even when he was the youngest, when being assigned to a task he never got arrogant or lazy. When he turned 13 he gain the approval of getting paid. As time passed by he learned many things from his team members such as tracking,Where to go to find information, the vitals, taunting and how to wield a few weapons .

One day he decided to spent all his savings in one go. Being 16 he was old enough to enter a brothel, so he decided to spent all his savings in there. He managed to rent the best four harlots for whole day and night as well as food. Satisfying the lust that had awaken sometime ago, as well as eating until he was full Sed was more than satisfied to use all his savings. Ones wasted Sed fell asleep alongside the four tired harlots.

When Sed woke up he went straight to the camp to share his achievements.

"Wohhhh!" Thinking that he would be greeted with cheers he gave a small morning shout.

...

Only to find that the camp was being to silent.

Getting closer he smelled a scent that made him stop.

He was all to familiar with that scent.

"The smell of blood" Sed said quietly, as his eyes began narrow.

Taking one step at a time he approached the camp getting a better angle, only to find bodies all over the place. All dead, all killed none left alive. He saw his caretaker the boss of the White Crows Mercenaries and the man that teached him what surviving meant on his knees. Arrows all over his body making him look like a porcupine, still holding tight onto his weapon. Sed approached his caretaker not knowing what to do or what to say. He stopped one's he was one step away from this man that ones made people fear him just by revealing he was a Highlander. Sed feeling that he needed to take something off this man, he slowly extend his hand and took the dead's man weapon. Looking around, all he saw was his dead team members and that every single one had different kinds of wounds.

Sed felt like something inside him cracked,

but he didn't fully understand what it was.

Feeling his mind going blank Sed headed towards the inn. His mind full of fog. Sed sat down quitely on a empty table and started to listen to all the voices of the people inside the bar. He have been told that information was even more important than a blade sometimes and that the best places with info were the ones that had either food, alcohol or girls.

A conversation of two men that appear to be apprentice blacksmith got his attention so Sed focus solely on it.

"Are you for real!? They killed all of them!?"

"Yeah! The batch of weapons of those mercenaries was being sold to us just this morning"

"But who killed all of them and why? Weren't they like a team of mercenaries that had 10 people?"

"No they were 8 of them apparently, but they are still looking around to find if they miss someone. The guys that did it were probably knights. They had nice armor and weapons. I also heard it was a request that they got, those so called White Crows mercenaries were in fact bandits that went to small distant towns and villages to steal and kill. The worst of the worst"

After listening in the're conversation Sed got his questions answered.

Sed starts holding his head as if he was holding the world, remembering everyone of his team members. There faces and voices appearing inside his mind. The things they did were horrible things, but what they teach him was priceless. Sed thought for a moment if he should head through the path of vengeance, but push that thought away. His team had a Highlander and Sed clearly knew how strong his team was but they still died, in a gruesome way. His team got massacred but the only thing he could do was run and survive. If what the blacksmith were saying is true then there still a chance that the knights are still looking around to see if they miss someone.
