Watching as the spear came at him, all energy was sapped out of Chege's body. It was moving too damn fast, he couldn't escape it at all. Unable to even believe what was happening, Chege crouched and rolled into a ball, extending his hands out to form an X.
In his mind, he was willing everything within him to stop the spear, though he knew it was impossible. He even prayed to the very air in front of him to hold the spear in place, something that was not even within the realms of possibility. All he was left to do was wait for his inevitable death.
And so he waited and waited. Nothing happened. He could clearly remember seeing that malevolent spear coming at him with deathly intent, yet now nothing happened. Scared and curious, Chege opened one eye, but what he saw made him not only open his other eye wide in shock but also his mouth.
The spear looked as though it was being held in place, unable to move forward or backward. Stuck as though it had been planted on quicksand. It took Chege a few seconds before he could recover from the shock. Looking around, he noticed that even the hunters had ceased their onslaught, they too no doubt shocked by what they were seeing.
The next moment, Chege ran at top speed to the left. This was because, from afar, he could see smoke. He hoped that he would find some semblance of civilization, a fire perhaps, and maybe a few strong men to help him get rid of this problem.
As he ran, Chege willed whatever power that had saved him the last time to protect him. He didn't dare look back at all and just kept running.
Suddenly, very loud bangs could be heard in the direction he was running towards. What was even worse was that as it was louder than anything he'd ever heard. Chege didn't stop, whatever it was, maybe he could make it the creatures' problem.
As he ran, the loud bangs stopped, but he noticed he was approaching a massive wall. At first, he had assumed it was a cliff, such as the one he had found himself on. Now, on looking closer, the wall looked like a wall, to some extent.
On top, he could see humans looking at him as he ran, and so he decided to wave his hands at them, just to show that he had no hostile intent. To his excitement, there was movement at the lower points of the wall, and a small gate was opened.
Three humans came out, each one looking mean and fierce. Chege had interacted with warriors long enough to recognize them, and these three were warriors. Not wanting to show any misunderstanding, Chege kept his hands up to show no ill intent. He then started to approach the warriors with care.
When he made just one step, the warriors started shouting in a language he couldn't discern. Chege realized that that was a no-no, and took a step back. That seemed to have calmed the warriors down a little.
The funny thing about these warriors was that they had wands out that were pointed at him. These wands had some runes on them but were somehow tubular, with the front end having a small opening. The weapons also had other components on them, that acted as grips for the weapons. They were unlike any weapon he had ever seen before and the only reason he suspected them to be weapons was the way the warriors held them and pointed them at him.
The next thing was that each of these warriors was at least a head shorter than him, that was the tallest among them. Chege didn't consider himself that tall, being slightly taller than an average man, or just as tall as a tall woman. Now he stood out like a giant among the warriors.
One of the warriors stepped up front and swapped his weapons. Sensing trouble, Chege turned to run, but it was too late. The wand that had been used part out a dart looking object that was so fast it reached Chege before he could see it.
Before he knew it, he was on the ground. However, he was not beaten yet, so he struggled to get on his feet. As he did, a second dart hit his chest, and he was down again. He looked as the warriors disappeared in his sight, and everything turned pitch black.

"Colonel, I heard your guys captured another creature." A tall elegant woman in a lab coat walked in an officer's office. Without so much as a 'hi', she began rambling on.
"Who told you?" Colonel asked. This matter was supposed to be held tight-lipped, so he was curious about who blabbed.
"No one, just the word," She replied, before turning serious and asking, "Is it true?"
"You'll know when you've been cleared to know about it. Until then, shut it." This was completely dismissive behavior, one that the woman wouldn't tolerate.
Just as she was about to go on a verbal rampage, the door to the colonel's office was opened. The colonel was wondering what was going on, people waltzing in his office just like that. He needed a secretary, but since this was a low budget expedition, there were no such luxuries even for senior officers.
"Sir."
When the colonel saw who he was, he recoiled his anger and nodded at the new arrival with respect. Had this been a military officer, he would be firmly standing at attention with his hand saluting, but now this was a civilian, and they did not merit such treatment.
"Colonel Bass, Doctor Keshi, You're here as well, this saves me time." The elegant man who just walked in said. "I have come to a decision colonel, I would like the good doctor here to examine the creature we found."
"But sir, we both saw what that creature could do, how it took on an entire nest without suffering any loss ... "
"Colonel, the decision has been made!" Sir Anyang raised his voice needlessly. Every time he stood in front of this man, he could feel the seething contempt and the displeasure he felt for having to work for him. As such, he always felt the need to force his way, which would end up as a desperate attempt of a child trying to contend with an adult.
"Now make all the resources and information we have about this creature available to her!" Curtly, he said this and walked away, not intending to spend a single second more in what usually felt like a lion's den, though right now it felt like a dragon's. The colonel was pissed.
"Follow me. I know you think that this is all a big lab experiment to you, but just remember, I have men whose lives are on the line, one wrong move and it could spell disaster. Take extreme care with the creature, you hear?"
Angry, the colonel walked out of his office in the direction of Hangar 12. The doctor didn't bother saying a word, and she just walked on as though she hadn't heard a thing.

Waking up, Chege found himself in a brilliant room. His large eyes could barely survive the shine of the lamps that had been put up. Moreover, he found himself laying on some very soft material, so soft he felt like he was laying on clouds. However, the moment he tried to move his hands, he felt that they were restrained to the bed, tied by a rope of some kind.
Given the power of his muscles, Chege pulled and tugged at the restraints until they broke free. This led to a blast of sirens and a group of people came into his room. These didn't look like the warriors from before, but they did look formidable. None leaked any kind of killing intent, and they seemed more intent on subduing him than killing him. However, they reeked of fear.
Chege found that he could easily overpower them, but he was still curious, so he decided to stay put. Without a clue where he was going, he decided to stay put. As he had been moving around, he realized that he had a clean bill of health.
What was disconcerting was that he could vaguely remember that as he ran, he had been bruised, battered and even injured. He wouldn't be shocked if he found a few broken ribs too, that was how intense it had been. yet now, he was both extraordinarily strong and had fast healing.
Wondering what had brought about this change, Chege decided to stick around and wait. He wanted answers, and somehow he felt as though the answers were more in here than out there.
The first day, some people had come in, collected some blood samples and other kinds of bodily fluid. Some food had been brought to him from time to time, but he was mostly on his own.
A few days went by, and since he was behaving, he realized he had more freedom. He was now free to move around in his room. All around him, the room was made up of a mirror that rose from the waist-height going up. His clothes, which were mostly leather made from hunted hide, had been switched out to some strange gown made of soft fabric, as soft as the stuff he had been lying on.
The humans didn't dare to come into his room as long as he was free, fearing the worst. Therefore, freedom for him meant loneliness.
Ten more days went by, and the patience of this hot-headed teenager. Something had to give.
Frustrated, One day, Chege found himself with his head against one of the mirrors. He hated this solitary confinement, feeling as though he would snap into madness if this went on. The utter loneliness he found himself in was so overwhelming he just wanted to end it, he no longer thirsted for answers.
Banging his head against the mirror, something unexpected happened. The glass cracked.
Dr. Keshi, who was standing on the other side of the class, was momentarily shocked. The one side mirror was meant to be nigh-unbreakable, yet with one what of his forehead, the subject destroyed it, just how powerful was he?
Staring down at the tablet in her hands that showed his information, she realized that she had made slight miscalculations in her study and analysis. A 7 feet 5 inch giant with normal muscle fibers should have the strength of at most 3 fully grown men, but all this was on assumption that the subject had a normal human constitution.
The tan-brown giant had much more power in his body than she had assumed.
On his part, seeing the glass break like that, Chege was overjoyed. Now, not his head, but his fists that followed. Furiously whacking the area that had been broken, Chege tore apart the glass and punched a hole big enough for him to fit in, but by this time, the sirens were blaring and the warriors were rushing over.
Having felt just how dangerous those darts had been, Chege wasn't planning on taking them head-on. Raising his hand as though he was holding a shield, Chege rushed at the direction of the warriors like a wild bull on a rampage.
Like thunder, the warriors unleashed their firepower. The scene was spectacular. Flanked on all sides, Chege ran towards the exit. No bullet hit him, no dart did either. Invincible, the giant managed to break through one of the walls in the building he was in.
In hindsight, Chege found himself wishing he'd remained in his cell. This was because the moment he stood up, he found multiple humans and weapons pointed at him. Though he felt he was strong, he could also feel that the weapons that were leveled at him were not simple. The threat of death was intoxicating.
"Wait! Wait!" A young woman came out of the building he just escaped. She was covered in dust, a far cry from the elegant woman she'd been when she'd entered the colonel's office a few days ago. Standing between the giant and the army of soldiers ready to take it down 'with extreme prejudice', the brave woman approached the giant with her hands raised high, mimicking the giant's action when it had ran to the shelter the first time.
"Finally, something I can understand." Chege thought.
