A PROLOGUE'S END

I was brought into a city where the dead body of Von was celebrated and his killer was hailed as heroes and was revered. My anger never dissipated this whole time yet I was calm.

The celebration did indeed had me angered to my limits, but that anger translated to pure calmness. I found this weird. But with my calmness brought back, any kind of 'emotion' that had previously sprung up retreated.

I reverted to my old self and my expressionless face was seen. With my heart calming down, I manage to also regain my voice after a while.

With me being injured, I was brought to an establishment where healing takes place. It was a hospital and the bruises that had appeared in my body quickly disappeared after a man cast a spell on me.

I was feeling light like before and it felt like I could take the life of something right now and I would be able to do just that with pure ease.

The people of the hospital gave me a room and I passed the night there. People came to bring me food and other than the people looking at me weirdly from time to time, I found my experience on the hospital rather comfortable.

They gave me food, clothes, and healed my wounds.

I slept that night and dreamt of my time with Von. I did not cry, but I renewed my resolve about what I should be doing.

Morning came and the sun shone through my window. Two men entered my room, they were both wearing formal clothing just like the ones I saw in the World Cube. It was a dark suit and tie. Their heights varied from one another. One was tall while the other short.

The tall man was the one to approach me and sat on the chair beside my bed.

"We are just here to ask you a couple of things. We failed to find your registry and I fear that you are an unregistered citizen. Little one, answer a few words of mine."

"Name?... Xiron… Age?... 4 (2)… Race…"

They asked me a lot of personal information and as if Von had already prepared for this, I managed to answer the questions without much delay. I did not lie as I answered the questions that is except for my age.

Von once said that my age would be best measured by what I looked so despite me being 2 years of age, I answered 4. But it seems like the man in front of me does not have much say regarding my age.

I did not find anything wrong with the questionnaires. That is until the question of what kind of race I belong to. When I answered I was a half-breed between an elf and a human, the tall man looked at me weird.

Thankfully, I do not need to handle them any longer than I should because they left quicker than I thought. But before they left, I ask where the lady was and her companions who saved me.

"They have missions and is very busy, they left earlier than expected. They had no time to meet you." Then, they left without another word.

She had left already, but that does not matter. Her facial feature is deeply etched in my head, I will not fail to remember her when I see her later.

Time passed and the only thing I ever did in the hospital was mediate and wait for time to pass. But as I time went on, I healed well and I was discharged from the hospital.

When I was discharged, I thought I would not have a place where I could stay. But as I stepped out of my room, I was greeted by a woman. The woman had a smile on her face. I was expressionless.

It was here that I learned that I would be sent to an orphanage. And this orphanage would be the start of my journey.
