Clean-up Drive
As I was about to ask who she is referring to, I recalled his eyes. Those deep brown eyes resemble the eyes of that fat handsome guy I met when I was in Bali.
"Ughhh!", I exclaimed, as she shook me. "You wake up from your dreamland, now tell me, who is he? From your reaction you might remember him, right?".
"Kay-kay there's no way that... That man who... Arrg..." I am struggling for what will I say because it will never make sense, how come they have same eyes, is he really him. I grabbed Kayla's shoulder while saying "No way, there's no way that, that handsome man a while ago is the same guy I met in Bali. There's no possible way Kayla."
As she is struggling with my grip, she moaned in pain "urrghh! Larla Kristen Roslin, let go of me this instant, it hurts!". I let her go while guiltily looking at her "Sorry... I just can't believe that... Hmmm... He couldn't be him, right?", I asked her. She looked at me with confused expression and said "Will you please explain to me what are you talking about? Bali? What happened in there? Remember I didn't go during that trip. Now spill, because I really can't stand being curious".
I am amused as how her face shows her curiosity, her face really shows it all. So, I laughed at her expression that made her stare at me coldly, I gulped as I am afraid of her right now. I opened my mouth to say something, but nothing came out, as she squinted her eyes looking at me intently. I exhaled as I don't want to tell some embarrassing stories to her, she might laugh it out and will mock me when she got the chance.
I am silent for a while and this lady is still staring at me waiting for my story.
I took a deep breath then said, "Remember that we had this outreach activity in Bali last year?", she nodded and waited for me to continue. "Hmm. Well, we also had different activities, we went to an Ocean there and had a Coastal Clean Up drive, it's where I met a dashing man. Though, he is kind of fat, hmm not fat but a fat fat guy like a fluffy man." Kayla laughed at my words, which made me stop midway, she then said "You sure are contemptuous, why are you insulting someone with his weight... "
I stopped her while talking as she was about to scold me, "Kay-kay please listen... I am not insulting his weight, it's just a way of describing the man I met, ok? Now will you listen to me?" she nodded in agreement. "Ok, now talk, I will listen to you and will scold you later if you did something not good. And you know that I can see through your lies, so you better not skip any of it. Okay?!"...
I nodded, gosh my friend really is scary when she's serious and when she dislikes something. I smiled at her and continued where I stopped. "Well, he might be fluffy..." Kayla is laughing while saying "You really insulted him in a cute way, using words like fluffy, you really are creative."
I raised my eyebrow while saying "Stop cutting me, let me finish ok? I might forget some of it if you keep on distracting me." Kayla just nodded and gestured her hand for me to continue.
"hmm... As I was saying, he is fluffily handsome, if there's such a word as fluffily then I'll use that", I heard Kayla laughed again, my way of describing him might really be funny. I sighed and continued, "As you know, group of doctors were there, some volunteers and other people, I don't know about or rather I didn't care, because you know that year was my lowest right? And I went there even without you because you told me to have a different environment and it might help me recover." I stopped and looked at her, she just nodded and mouthed" continue".
"We were divided into groups and that man and I were assigned in one group. I didn't do any socializing, so I just picked up some garbage along the way and put it in the bag he's holding. It continued for like an hour of cleaning until we went back to where we started. After compiling all the garbage, we collected we were then... " as I was talking, suddenly an announcement came that flight bound to Taiwan is open for boarding.
With that announcement, I stood up and told her we should get going and I will tell the rest of my story in Taiwan. She reluctantly agreed and went to the boarding gates.
