Chapter 21: Chapter 21: Thank You For Trusting Me
- In the woods -
Rose is leaning against a rock as Jin stands next to her. Both are looking at the lake. This was the same spot from 13 years ago where they had taken a break and Rose gave him a piggyback ride. Rose was the first to break the silence, "You have good friends."
Jin looked at her and spoke, "I do. I trust them with my life."
"Your mate is very beautiful. " Rose said. Jin was a bit shocked that she knew then Rose explained, "Your father told me."
Jin nodded and said with a smile, "She is. I'm so happy that I found her."
Rose smiled, "I'm happy for you Jin." When Jin heard that he was happy that she gave her blessing but for a split second he felt pain in his heart but it quickly passed as it came so he believed he just imagined it.
"Rose?" Jin asked as he waited for her to look at him. "You really are staying here for good right? Are you completely healed? You aren't going to...die right?" He asked a bit scared.
Rose chuckled, "I'm not going anywhere Jin. I don't plan on dying unless you want me too." She teases him.
Jin pouted and mumbled, "Of course not."
"Jin close your eyes." Rose said. He gave her a puzzled looked but did as he told. "Stretch out your hand." She continued. He did without any hesitation. She thought, 'Trusting as ever but Jin you shouldn't trust me.' She quickly placed a small black box in his outstretched hand and said, "Happy birthday Jin!" Jin smiled was about to tell her that his birthday was yesterday but she beat him to it. "I know your birthday was yesterday. In fact... sigh... I have a confession to make." Jin waited for her to continue. She rubbed the back of her neck and said, "I was here yesterday. I had planned to surprise you at your party but your father and I celebrated your birthday earlier than it was supposed to. Me and your father got drunk. It turned from drinking for celebration to a drinking competition and your mother walked in on us. She saw that we were completely wasted and locked us up in the office and didn't even let us out til this morning. I am really sorry for missing your birthday and I will make it up too you."
Jin was silent and he thought, 'So that's why mom was so angry.' As he continued to be quiet Rose was getting nervous and was worried that Jin was mad at her and wouldn't talk to her anymore until he spoke, "Anything?" Rose nodded quickly. "Tomorrow you have to spend the whole day with me. You can't leave my side." Rose smiled and quickly agreed. Jin satisfied he looked at the box and opened it to see a charm shaped as a wolf that was howling. It was black and as the sun hit it there was a tint of purple. The wolf charmed was so detailed that it looked like a real wolf howling.
"Its to put on your necklace. Sorry I couldn't make anything better--" Jin interrupted her, " You made this?" Rose nodded and before she could continue Jin hugged her tight and said excitedly, "Thank you! I love it!" Rose blushed but Jin didn't see it as he hugged her so she quickly pulled herself together and said, "Your welcome. " They pulled apart and Jin quickly put the wolf charm on his necklace. As he did Rose notice that the yin-yang charm was still intact meaning he hadn't given the other half to his mate. She was about to ask him but saw him smiling and thought, 'There's always next time.'
When Jin was done Rose spoke, " Jin did you know?"
Jin looked at her confused, "Know what?"
"Your parents adapted me." She said
"WHAT?" Jin yelled.
"I guess not. " She said nonchalantly.
"How? When?" Jin asked. Rose just raised her eyebrow. He then thought about it and realized that it happened at that time, "No..."
"Yup. So I'm officially your big sister. " She said a bit excited.
"Have you met my little sister?" He asked.
"No they plan to introduce me at dinner. The reason why I bring it up is because it should be need to know." Rose said.
"Wait father isn't going to announce it?" Jin asked.
Rose shook her head, "No because I don't want to for 3 reasons: 1) I'm a Devourer it's not safe for me to join the pack. 2) I have Alpha blood and 3) If he announces everyone that I'm his daughter they would assume that I'm supposed to be Alpha when in reality you are it would cause more problems. So don't tell anyone. There will be a time when it will be announced but right now is not the time. " Jin nodded in agreement although he was a bit sad.
"So what is the story?" he asked.
Rose explains seriously, " Just that I'm a Rogue. If people start asking why we are so close to each other you can tell them how we met which of course would explain that we are childhood friends. The reason why I left was of course me being sick so I had to leave to get treatment. If people start getting suspicious I'll fill in that gaps so don't worry. Its not like we are completly lying to them. " Jin sighed in relief.
Then he looked at her a bit worried and asked, "What about my mate and friends?"
Rose looked at him, "You want to tell them?" He didn't answer. Just waited patiently. Rose hesitated before she sighed, " You can tell them everything except for me being a Devour." Jin was about to talk but Rose stared at him seriously, "I understand you trust them Jin that is why I'm letting you tell them everything. All I ask Jin is that you don't tell them or anyone that I'm a Devour. It is to dangerous and the only reason you and your family know that I'm a Devour is because trust y'all with my life. So please Jin. " Jin looked at her and saw how much she trusted him. He felt warmth in his heart and spoke, "I won't Rose. Thank you for trusting me."
